[John Rofrano] “You didn’t say what the output was going to be but whatever it is, make sure that they match.”
Sorry about that, my output will be lossless (Lagarith). I’m planning on archiving all of my videos in their “original” form (if they’re interlaced, let them be interlaced and so forth) so that I can just dig up some old footage and start to edit with it.
[John Rofrano] “Then there is the field order of the media. You don’t get to decide this. It is what it is and you should never change it unless Vegas has interpreted it incorrectly. Usually this is determined by the capture device and codec.”
Intensity Shuttle captures in these formats:
AVI 8-bit YUV, AVI 10-bit YUV, AVI Motion JPEG, DPX 10-bit RGB
I’m planning on using the AVI 10-bit YUV, since I believe this is the uncompressed video with most rich colors. Am I correct?
Also, is this format DV or non-DV material?
[John Rofrano] “Last thing to remember is if you want your output to be progressive, and any of your source footage is interlaced, you MUST set the Deinterlace Method in the project properties to either Blend Fields or Interpolate. I would keep it at Blend Fields, which is the default, unless you have a good reason to switch it to Interpolate Fields because of interlace artifacts. Never, ever, never set it to None if you are working with interlaced footage.”
I believe that at this point of editing I should use different setting with this? As I’m putting them into archive instead of putting them up for others to see, and would like to keep the video in as original form as possible.
