Changing the preview timing from “Auto” to 29.97 fixed it for me, even though auto was detecting “(29.97)”. Looks like a bug fix to me.

OK thanks. I guess it could possibly be done with a script.
I do thirty second commercials and do the whole thing in AE so it would help me. I just pick out clips in Premiere.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, of course I can do that, but certainly there should be a way to do this in the timeline since it is such a common task. Anyone else want to chime in?

  • Do you recommend render high rez broadcast versions in Media Encoder, or just compressed type versions? In the past I have done high rez versions in After Effects so I am new to Media Encoder and the newer adobe workflow.

    Thanks

I just switched from FCP7 to Adobe Premiere Pro and noticed this cache storage problem immediately. Come on guys. What were you thinking?

  • Thanks for the info about the NVIDIA Kepler architecture in the Retina version. That is why I posted here, so I could get that kind of info! I do plan on moving to Premiere so that helps my decision slightly.
Since the Retina version doesn’t have FW800 ports, have you found any limitations with the Thunderbolt to FW800 adapter?

    Ian.

  • “Put the matte above the outgoing clip and set Blend mode on the matte to “stencil luma”. You then have to compound those clips.”

OK. Thanks for the demo. So let me get this straight. The key difference here is that I have to compound those clips. How do I do that?

    Thanks,
    Ian.

  • Thanks for troubleshooting this with me.

I would like to have my team members be able to use this custom one second transition without going into Apple Motion.

The transition consists of two clips I created in After Effects:
Clip 1 – A one second clip of a magnifying glass stock image coming onto the screen from the right, then we zoom fly through it. It has an alpha channel transparent background.
Clip 2 – White background, then a black circle that represents the magnifying glass interior comes on screen from right, then we zoom fly through it. Whole screen then becomes black.

Of course I also have my outgoing and incoming footage in the timeline that I would like to transition between using the magnifying glass transition I just mentioned.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ian.

  • I was able to get it to work by adding another layer and designating it as “background”, as the other post mentioned, but I still don’t know what the heck “background” means or does, so knowing how to do it and not knowing why is really annoying.

Also, I was unable to get that after market alpha matte plug-in to work properly.

Can you please tell me an easier way?
I have one matte layer animation (black and white), and one clip animation with an alpha channel transparency background. The clip with alpha should just sit on a top layer by itself, but incorporating that matte into the lower layer is the hard part. No Track Matte feature like After Effects. There’s got to be an easier way.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ian.
