April 16, 2011 at 5:25 amI’d check the frame rate and the sampling rate of the audio. Check under the File > Interpret footage > Main.

April 18, 2011 at 3:37 pmI’ve recently had a similar issue. When I start an audio preview, it will play back faster and higher pitched. But if I stop it and start the preview again it will sound fine. I don’t have an answer for you, just wanted you to know you’re not the only one!

August 8, 2011 at 6:22 pmHi there!
I was struggling with exactly the same issue, and it drove me nuts! To make matters worse, I have a job I’m working on, and NEED to animate in AE. So I searched the net. Disappointingly there was nothing on the net. So I searched and searched until I at last found the solution. And what a no-brainer it was. Guess sometimes we think we’re so experienced, we fail to check the basics.
Check your Ram-preview, on mine the FPS was set to 30. Apparently this happens if you mistakenly use the “ins” key on the keyboard:D
Now all’s fine, hope it helps!
Cheers!

August 11, 2014 at 5:55 pmChanging the preview timing from “Auto” to 29.97 fixed it for me, even though auto was detecting “(29.97)”. Looks like a bug fix to me.
