You should also download and install Xdcam Transfer 2.12. Earlier versions do not work properly with Snow Leopard.

Yes, same holds true for MC 5.5.
FCP uses our (free) export plug-in to rewrap to mp4 and export to the card. Once this is done and the card is updated (you do this from the menu….Others–>Clip–>update) the file will play out at 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 depending on the codec selected. Can be done from 6.0.6 or higher.

Unfortunately there is no way to do this, at least not without involving another NLE. Avid only supports export to XDCAM optical disc. You can’t export a re-wrapped .mp4 for XD EX. You’d have to export it as a QuickTime and then use FCP, Vegas or one of the NLEs that support EX export to transcode/rewrap for EX.

Yes, you can click and drag from the card in one Explorer Window to any location in the 2nd Explorer Window. The ‘Copy All’ location stored in the prefs is just for the ‘Copy All’ function (i.e. a quick copy to a pre-established location). Both copy methods utilize the verification if it is enabled.

This should not be a problem. Can you copy other files/directories to UserData? Or does it reject any type of files? If it’s still giving you an issue try re-installing the 2.3.2 driver and reformatting the disc. Please let me know if you aren’t able to get it working..

Is the ‘extra file’ an SMI? If so there are spanned clips, which Avid AMA supports. There should be nothing besides EX-generated files in either the CLPR or TAKR folders. I’m assuming they’re using AMA since AVID is looking directly at BPAV?
If they are missing part of a file this is normal if the files span volumes/cards and both volumes/cards are not available to the system. Is there a ‘Clip Transit’ locator in the preview window? Even if the media is offline this will still show up if in fact we’re looking at a spanned clip. If removing the SMI corrects everything that’s probably because Avid is only looking at the standalone MP4s and not looking for the rest of the clip(s), i.e. the spanned portions located on some other card or drive.
If we need to go further please provide more info re what you’re seeing and what version of Media Composer they’re using.

I have seen this once before during testing but the symptom occurred only on a newer MBP running 10.6.x. You are seeing this same symptom on a Leopard machine?

Can you try updating the firmware on one of the PDWs to 1.60?

Don’t recall if Edius can export an EX mp4 file but the process in FCP and Vegas is to export the Sony .mp4 file to the root of /CLIPR and then update the card on the camera (menu–>others–>clip–>update) or in Clip Browser (refresh the source in the Explorer window). The ‘update’ registers the file, updates mediapro.xml and creats a thumbnail..
