December 22, 2014 at 6:49 pm in reply to: New Sony Applications for XDCAM, XDCAM EX, RAW, SR and NXCAMWe just posted some new updates to Browse and Prepare.
Batch Transcoding has been restored in Browse (provided source clips are in the same format). Thanks to all who helped me lobby to get this restored asap. It was always part of the feature set but was temporarily removed for development reasons (admittedly at the worst possible time…)
There is a lot more in the works so stay tuned..
Browse 1.10:
Added a Vectorscope tool to the Adjust Color workspace.
Added support for multifile transcoding when all source files use the same source settings.
Added support for reading DNxHD clips.
Added support to combine to one file when copying a spanned AVCHD clip.
Added support for reading SD MPEG-2 clips.
Added support for writing XDCAM EX clips to SxS memory cards.
Added support for transcoding to interlaced XAVC formats.
Added the Transcode button to the Adjust Color workspace.
Added Brightness and Contrast sliders to the Adjust Color workspace.
Added support for reading Apple ProRes 422 files (Mac only).
Added support for showing source clips from the Media Browser. Select a file, click the File button at the bottom of the Media Browser, and choose Show in Finder (Mac)/Show in Explorer (Windows).
Added support for showing additional metadata values in the Media Browser.
Fixed a bug that could prevent color correction settings from being applied to all clips in a clip list.Prepare 1.10:

X70 is XAVC-Long which, regrettably is not supported in FCP X yet. There will be an update shortly but in the meantime you can use one of our Catalyst applications to convert to Pro Res

If you see other ‘SxS’ items in here remove them and then reinstall just the UDF driver

December 17, 2014 at 8:09 pm in reply to: MacBook Pro with Yosematie will not read EX3 SXS cardstry uninstalling/reinstalling and rebooting. if you are getting slow transfers after an OS upgrade it’s almost certainly the driver. this is exactly the behavior to expect when it isn’t installed or isn’t working. you do not need to uninstall/reinstall Browser but you do want to be at the latest version.

December 17, 2014 at 4:15 pm in reply to: MacBook Pro with Yosematie will not read EX3 SXS cardsYou need to update the SxS UDF driver. The version you have doesn’t work under Yosemite (10.10). When the driver isn’t installed or isn’t working correctly you’ll have extremely slow transfers and the card will mount as read-only. Install the below update and you should be back on track.

When you see ‘SLV’ files these indicate that a ‘Salvage’ needs to be performed. There may have been a power or media issue during recording. If you have the camera handy, put the card into the camera and see if the camera performs an automatic salvage. If not, contact us and we will have a look at the card. Also you don;t use Log and Transfer for .mxf. Please try using Content Browser to rewrap to .mov or Browse/Prepare to transcode to ProRes.

[Ian Cook] “You do not have to transcode in Prepare. ”
Not being an encoding expert, doesn’t Prepare always transcode? Or is the default XAVC the same coding as XDCAM?
-No, you do not have to transcode. As often as not it’s used just to make secure copies of the original clips.
[Ian Cook] “You do not need it for FCP X unless you want to transcode prior to ingest. ”Meaning, Prepare always transcodes? No, I meant that you could if you wanted to. For example, if ProRes is your house format.
Is this transcoding why FCPX does not recognize any output from Prepare? FCPX only looks for the intact camera BPAV structure? For .mp4s yes. Continue to use the existing PDZK-LT2 plugin for EX clips.
When Prepare releases a BPAV importing function, will you be able to use the Prepare naming functions? Or will it leave the original BPAV structure and naming intact? TBD
Will prepare ever support an option to unwrap into a *.mov file as did the previous XDCAM importers? Yes

You do not have to transcode in Prepare. We will be releasing an update to support recreating the BPAV folder and metadata structure.
Version info is under Options–>About…
You do not need it for FCP X unless you want to transcode prior to ingest. The PDZKLT2 plugin for X will accept/rewrap XAVC.
