I just finished redoing my edits lost yesterday. Interestingly, at the end I was going to quit FCP to force a save, but it warned me there were tasks in progress… Transcoding and Analysis (6%), Rendering (0%) and Backup (0%). So I went to check the backup directory, and while there were a few backups 15 minutes apart, there were none for the previous 45 minutes of editing. So I paused the first two… Still no progress on the backup. I killed Transcoding and Analysis, and there was a blip in Backup, and magically the latest backup appeared.

This seems like some sort of a defect, but I don’t know definitively if it’s the T&A that’s blocking the backup.

That didn’t work. I’m really disappointed in FCPX. Oh well.

Copying the currentversion.fcpevent didn’t seem to make a difference. What’s the “flexolibrary”? I didn’t see anything with that name.

There isn’t 🙁 But in the library that’s “corrupted” there is a currentversion.fcpevent file that has a more recent time on it. I’m tempted to try copying it into the backup to see if it has the edits? Is that where the edits are stored?

I used “File->Library->Open Library->From Backup…” The latest one was from 10:15am, but I finished editing around noon.

I converted the mts out of the Panasonic hmc-150 with a trial version of adobe premiere. I don’t recall doing anything other than taking the defaults. FCP reports the frame rate for the imported clip as 30fps. I was trying to convert the other clips to these properties so FCP would let me create a multiclip.

OK… I’m getting there (I think). Now I can’t figure out how to turn the 29.97 frame rate into 30. I tried setting the duration to 30@29.97, but that didn’t seem to do it.

Hmm… maybe I did figure out how to do it… Trying a conversion to square pixels with the prores 422 interlaced conversion.

Could I have a little hint about compressor? I couldn’t find a conversion for my source files that would allow a change in resolution. What am I doing wrong?

I should be more specific – full disclosure… The item props for these two other angles shows a pixel aspect ratio of 1440×1080, and multiclip doesn’t like it. Everything is already prores 422. (I think I did the original conversion with a trial of premiere, but didn’t do the pixel aspect right? I’ve been banging my head so long I’m not sure what came first anymore.
