An update. (Solved)

Most probably the reason for ‘shallow’ wave form was low input level from my mic – even though I though I had everything on max.

I fixed the problem by (on the clip) RightClick > Switches > Normalise. (NOTE: Options > Preferences > Audio has a setting Normalise Peak Level which I kept at 0.0 db)

Question on calibration: Is there somewhere I can measure the input level coming out of my soundcard? It is set to max but still Vegas hears it as ‘low’. (the mic is a Rode-NTG2, soundcard Edirol UA-101 USB 2)

The frame rate in Camtasia I set to 30 fps. In Vegas Pro also I set it to 30 fps (by changing the 29.7 to 30 – is that right to do that?)

Yes, in Vegas Pro I Pan & Zoomed.

Further info:
I tested it also by capturing a 848 x 477 AVI – so no Pan & Zoom. Now the Vegas Pro rendering is sharp … but I had these two new problems.
1. The colors became a bit ‘washed out’.
2. The streaming took a short while to start.
I’d like to learn why?

Thanks for responding Tommy.

The level when recording is just below going into red. But the wave being recorded is very small. When playing back it is soft, and the volume is consistent with the small wave.

I don’t know about calibrating with a reference tone. Where can I learn about that for Vegas Pro? (I’ll check the Help also). I thought, as Vegas shows that a loud input is being received it would be an issue withing Vegas?
