There is no reason, none, to be ashamed of liking either.
The Monkees, while a corporate construct, recorded very good pop songs using the best producers and session musicians in LA at the time. Michael Nesmith, who wrote Linda Rondstandts first hit “Different Drum, is a talented musician and made some excellent records on his own with the First National Band. The rest of the Monkies were not much and the only great song they recorded is Carol King’s “Giant Steps” who’s ultimate recording was by Taj Mahal, but “I’m a Believer” holds up very well as mid sixties pop.
As for Donovan, he was a fabulous musician who made some really great records that stand up to this day. He was better served when he added more Jeff Beck and subtracted a little of his airy fairies – but I’d put his music up against pretty much anyone from his time.
See what I did there Bill – I advocated for that which I loved but still managed a little critical evaluation. It’s possible to be a fan with being a fanboi. Here, I’ll try it again:
I love Springsteen, but he hasn’t made a decent record in over 15 years and I’d rather listen to Patti Scialfa’s latest records than his.
Give it a try Bill, come to the dark side.

Depends upon the road your taking. You have to ask yourself, is an NLE more like a car or more like a long haul truck, because with the former performance is only one of the issues but with the latter style is exactly none of the issues.

There is no metadata that affects the “multicam” function directly, you can use something like the “description” field to help sort the camera clips more effectively in the browser.
It sounds to me like you ran the audio for long takes and the cameras were more stop and go. If that’s the case, when you make your multclip you will have several camera clips split over multiple tracks for each camera with one continuous audio clip. In that situation just move all the “A” camera clips onto the first video track, and all the “B” clips onto track 2. You can delete all the camera audio because your only using audio from your Zoom device.

The prior editor synced all the dailies, but the show was shot with two Alexa cameras and I’d like to make multi-camera groups for editing. It seems to be impossible. Please tell me I’m not crazy, and there’s a simple way to do this?”
There is a simple way to do this but unfortunately the prior editor screwed you. All the previous editor had to do was create multiclips of the 2 cameras and the double system audio using the “create multicamera” function and you could very happily be doing what you want. However you can’t use “merged clips” in a mutli-camera sequence – that would be a nest within a nest – and so now you have to chose between figuring out some kludge way to use those clips, or simply throw out the previous editors work and start from scratch. Ppro is very fast and robust when creating multiclips, especially if you have timecode or audio waveforms on all 3 sources to sync by, and I would recommend doing it this way, but if it’s a mountain of stuff and you have to locate sync marks by clapper sticks then it may not be worth it and you could try Alex Udell’s method.

[Jim McNamee] ” I’m working on footage with a shoot that had two DSLRs and zoom audio. When trying to sync, Premiere puts some of the clips out of order (even though they are sequentially numbered) and throws clips from the same camera sometimes to different tracks.”
You have 2 issues to deal with.
#1 – Ppro assigns camera angles based on the order in which you selected them. If you have 3 cameras, A, B, C – and you select them A first, then C, then B your multiclip will put A as the first angle, C as the second angle and B as the third angle. So first sort your clips so that all the A’s are first, the B’s are second and the C’s are third (or whatever naming convention you use) and then you will have them aligned consistently.
#2 – Ppro actually makes 3 different kind of multiclips, “Camera 1” “All Cameras” “Switch Audio”, and it’s based on the choice you make in the Audio section of the multicam dialogue box.
If all the audio you want to edit with (as opposed to the audio used in syncing the clips) is coming from your Zoom device then chose “1 Camera.” It will automatically install the zoom audio on the first set of audio tracks (using as many tracks as needed based on the number of tracks in your zoom files) and mute all other audio. If you want to edit with a different set of tracks then post what you’re looking to do and I will suggest how you can best handle it.
The Ppro multicam feature is very robust but it’s not exactly intuitive.

Apple can spend their money any way they see fit, and from their stock price it appears they’ve been spending it in the right way and I don’t expect them to start asking my opinion on what to do any time in the near future.
[Oliver Peters] “In past years Apple held closed door briefings in a hotel room with press, some customers, and partners. This year they took a slightly different and a bit more open approach. Isn’t that a good thing?”
I have no idea if it was a good thing or not, I wasn’t there. While Apple has every right to do things as they wish I don’t think I’m alone in feeling excluded – they have the right not to care how I feel, I have the right to be annoyed. In my case I have to make some spending decisions by June 1st and it would be helpful to have some idea of what Apple is up to before then. As it stands I have no way of knowing what I will know or when. This is not new, Apple is famous for it’s secrecy, it part of the brand etc., but the obvious comparison between every other NLE maker and Apple becomes even more pointed at NAB.

No argument.
Just the same, every other NLE maker actually wanted my attention, they sent me e-mails for months before NAB and provided all sorts of information and opportunities to learn what’s new with their products. But Apple is not like other companies so if I wanted to learn what they are up to I would have to research it on the web, then wait in line to beat out other interested parties, and then sign a NDA.
I am not worthy.

And knowing the meeting existed and where and when it was being held and who could attend. Maybe I’m totally to blame and it was written up in NAB Today or any of the other guides that were being handed out all over the place – then it’s my bad.
