Theyre iFinish boards then, since this is a PC… Any thoughts on what I can use them for now since iFinish is no longer a product?

I was playing with Squeeze today, it doesnt seem to even support AVI/DivX/XviD.. are those not the best way to go anymore?

I was looking at MainConcept’s H.264 today, but Windows Media doesnt do H.264 natively and I can’t figure out if I’d be allowed to ship MainConept’s decoder on our CDs..

Is there a tutorial or something? All the abbreviations/standards/formats are starting to make me dizzy.

If I were to use one of these, I’d still only be able to capture a maximum of 2 audio tracks, no? My understanding was if I mix down into the camera (with these or some other box), I still only stuff 2 audio tracks onto the DV tape, and cant break them out again later.

What I’m really going for is being able to pick and choose in post, which mic got the best pickup at any given point, so I basically want to capture all 8 or 12 audio channels discreetly, and have them all be correctly sync’d to the video.

Use different compression settings in FCP to reduce the file size. I can look them up in the morning when I have a mac near me if you need more detail on how to do it.

Im not an encoding/decoding expert, but it would seem to me if youre trying to run it through sorrenson to get a .mov out, why not just export to .mov?

THAT would explain a few things… Is that related to the screwy issue I found today with Uncompressed 8-bit showing up as half-screen on the PC? Looks fine in QT, but loading the .mov in another app, the 720×640 is split in half horizontally, top half is a stretched version of my video, bottom half is a green bar.

Ive dumped it out as a DV stream from Final Cut, but when playing it on a PC, it looks awful. Pixelated and artifacts everywhere.. I have the latest quicktime pro on the PC… Am I missing something?
