thanks but roto brush will be VERY time consuming and i don’t know that it would work. i have a subject with a white shirt in front of a blown-out background. i need to separate to color correct each on its own. the latitude is, amazingly, there but i have to be able to blend them and roto brush is all over the place with the matte due to the white-on-white image.
it seems like there would be a way to mimic how a camera ‘sees’ contrast to autofocus a lens and use this as a matte.

after digging through the manual it is apparent that the display items that won’t pass through video out are those that are assignable, i.e. those that you can assign to toggle on/off with various ‘assign’ buttons. these include ‘lens info’, ‘histogram’ and ‘BRT display’, three that i’d really like to see on my external monitor.
still, i’m hoping there is a way to get these display items to appear on my external monitor.
