    > You should have received an email confirming your purchase.
    > Listed in that email is the software you purchased as well as the serial number.
    > On the Sony site, go to “My Account – My Software” and you’ll get a listing of everything you’ve ever purchased and registered with them along with more serial numbers.

None of this is working… I thought maybe my isp was blocking messages but I can see nothing has come thru, blocked or otherwise.

Getting into the site is proving a non-starter too. I have a record of my UID and password… they don’t work… Attempting to have a new password sent… doesn’t either… I’m asked two questions I’ve never seen before… and that cannot have answers. For example it asks for my youngest siblings middle name…

    I have no youngest sibling.

Getting hold of them is a pain too and burning up way too much time.

Any suggestions that will expedite my ability to actually use my purchase? And what kind of none-sense is it anyway, not having the license number available as part of the purchase?

[Jon] “I think it’s your video card driver. I had an older P4 sys with similar spec to yours and it was just too old to run CS4 properly. Had issues with video card. Sold it with older ppro and got anew laptop. Works fine with new gear.”

I discovered I had acceleration turned on to highest level, and turned that off as per this adobe helpfile

On twin machines, that has allowed Premiere to run fine… at least I haven’t encountered anything yet… but its only been a day.

I have a little more to add here:
I managed to get CS4 Production Premium installed on a different machine and I see immediate problems.

Open Premiere and attempt to use the Edit menu.. (to set some prefs) but instead of opening the edit menu, the app crashes.

    I made several attempts.

PS – And Brian, I’m sorry if it seems like I’m being a wooden headed idiot… certainly not my intent… and I hate to ask for even more patience from you, as you have been very patient so far.

I really need to get this resolved since the machine in question is one of 2 in use for graphics/video/photo work/and imaging of all kinds.

OK, I’m not sure why I’m not getting anywhere with this.

Do you actually have an idea as to why I see no video?
I’ve noticed at least 3 other fairly recent posts here with this same question but no answers… not even any responses.

[Brian] “I assume that AFX is on the same machine that you are having problems with, there could be damaged codecs or other pertinate files that could possibly be corrupted so anything generated on that machine could be suspect.”

Ok, yes it was the same machine… however I do have AFX on a different machine… can you cite the exact export parameters that would satisfy for a good test of CS4 premiere.

The AFX on a different machine is version 7.. a bit old. Do you think it would suffice if I look for MS DV as output and choose that?

Render out a clip, transfer it to the problem machine, or even just load it across the network into PrpCS4 and see what I get.

“I can not capture movies HDV (no problem in DV ) . . .”

Gianni, please start a different thread with your question. Your topic is too different to be in this thread.

[Harry Putnam] “Then it sounds like you are saying I could load some special Ppro drivers to use canopus codecs.”

[Brian] “I think this is self explanatory “Canopus hasn’t had drivers for Adobe products since Ppro 1.5″ The only exception to this is for AFX or PS if you have newer GrassValley hardware. ”

Ahh, well it wasn’t but apparently I somehow turned it inside out and backward… now I get it… Its been so long since I used the capture card. I guess I may have never tried stuff captured with that dvstorm2 in cs4 before now.

[Harry Putnam] “And finally are you suggesting I have to recapture the clips using an OHCI port and special settings in scenalyzer”

[Brian ] “The reason for this is to have a clean file for CS4 that is in the proper format, not one that is converted or an unknown leftover, this gives you a test base to establish whether or not you have other problems in your system”

So is there no chance of using the clips, possibly with some sort of conversion, in CS4?

Seems like there might be easier ways to procure a file with the right properties than spend an hour or two recapturing, especially since the rewinder I used snagged the tape when I rewound it. I was able to get it straightened out and properly wound with a screwdriver but it got pretty scrunched up for a couple of inches… I’d as soon leave it alone unless I really have to use it.

I could generate a small avi in AE to test with. Can you tell me the exact settings that would create a really good test clip? I’m not very knowledgeable about all this as I’m sure you’ve noticed, I’d trust your parameters much better than my guesswork.

I have AE CS4, so if you are famiiiar with it, maybe you could tell me what settings to render with?

I also have AE 7 (now a bit long in the tooth in case you know that one)

The reason I ask is that I did create one that says (In the renderqueue information):
    Format: Video for windows movie
    Output Info: Microsoft DV
    […]
    Final Size: 720×480
    (no audio)

Using that clip, I conducted two tests.
    1) Import the clip, double click it in the project panel, it pops into the source monitor as expected and is visable. However when I drag it to the timeline and hit spc… I see no video in the program monitor

    Stop Pr and restart it

    2) Import the clip, double click into source monitor, this time the source monitor shows no video. Ditto for program monitor.

I can also add that I started the process manager and watched the resource monitor during the time Pr should have been playing video and it shows between 75 and 80 percent usage after a few seconds and for the whole time playback continues. I don’t know if that is normal or not.

    > If you use scenalyzer to capture, use a OHCI firewire port and capture to the listed “Premiere/vegas type 2 DV.avi”, I use this flow to capture DV on a older computer(also Storm2) to external drives to use on the other machine with CS4 and not tie it up with capture chores.

I’m not following you completely. First off, do you mean that you think the problem is caused by the video clips? Remember, I tested by importing a video clip found on a windows install that was not captured by me.

Then it sounds like you are saying I could load some special Ppro drivers to use canopus codecs. How can I tell for sure what codec is used on these clips? Gspot just reports type2 avi.

And finally are you suggesting I have to recapture the clips using an OHCI port and special settings in scenalyzer?

Ok, but what about the fact that a video whos info was posted in OP, will not show video in CS4 either. I doubt it was compresed with canopus codec. It appears to be something from a windows install.

What about the lack of video display… what would cause that?
I also mentioned that I have used this very machine with cs4 premier before (although a while back) and it worked fine.
