I appreciate this suggestion a lot, Richard.
However, seeing as I am setting up an editing suite in Beijing, where there is no geek squad, do you think that using the X-Rite i1 Display calibrator would be a viable solution?
I’m assuming the difference is that I would end up creating a display profile in my system preferences, rather than having the monitor itself calibrated. What are your thoughts?
I’m pushing for the FSI, but budget remains an issue.

I also need to know the exact same thing – I have been fighting this one silly issue since I started using Ppro – have you found an answer?

guys, excellent tip – thanks so much.
using your method i was not only able to replace the code that dealt with the font size but also font aspect, leading, tracking, and font type…very pleased with that.
however, my final cut system is really choking on the XML reimport…hangs up at 80%, or 95% if I instruct it to skip the step of reconnecting the media…
how long are you guys allowing for this process? i’m dealing with a 55 minute piece, about 1/3 of which is subtitled. just curious about whether or not i’m pulling the plug on the process too early.
in the meantime, many thanks for this tip –

i would also love to know the answer to this question

great info eric –
when shooting 60p for slow motion, can you transcode to .mov with mpeg streamclip and then import to fcp without losing frames?
just tried that and it looked like good old 60p slomo in a 24 timeline – what does the cinema tools step add?

Brilliant – will give that a shot!

ok
aja tech support claims that the kona lhi card isn’t capable of sending out RGB, only Y’Cb’Cr.

jeremy, thanks for the proRes tip, i’ll give that a shot after i get home today.
gary, i agree with you. could you provide a link to that article? i’ve been hearing about it but haven’t been able to dig it up.
thanks again,

Ok so backing up for a second here –
I too am running a KONA LHi-RO with a Mac Pro, and using HDMI to send signal to my HP Dreamcolor monitor. I’m working in FCP 6.0.6, and I want to use the monitor as my main video display in Rec.709, and view 1080p XDCAM footage at 23.98. I am currently using the LHi NDD driver from the AJA website.
Has anybody successfully done this?
At this point I am not even sure if I am running the correct driver…disclaimer, I didn’t put this package of equipment together, I’m just the poor sap tasked with making it all work…can it be done?
I download the drivers, get the monitor up and running, but I can see that the image is stretched and the correct color space is grayed out when I try to select it on the monitor, and of course I try to rectify this by selecting what seem to be the right options in the AJA control panel and FCP preferences, and then I just get nothing and have to start all over again.
Is there a crucial step that I missed? Thoughts would be greatly appreciated
