January 20, 2021 at 1:45 am in reply to: LTO cartridge taking long time to erase new/old mediaDear Martin,
I did tried with multiple tapes new and old. Tried with cleaning cartridge as well. It’s a rental drive and the provider is insisting drive is in perfect condition and the problem must be with the mac environment where he has no idea.
So I have connected the same drive to a Windows workstation with a different sas card cable also returned with the same issue. I have also tried using different downgrade versions of ltfs. But result is same.
Another main issue that I am facing is while I am trying to backup data, for 2.31gb file it is occupying the space on tape is 4.4gb. I have given the remote control to the provider and he finally comes to an conclusion that it is the issue with the tape media. But I have even tried with the old tapes as well which already partially backed up also resulting the same. Couldn’t find a solution.
15 days of arri raw, red raw are waiting to be backed up.
Actually this is the 3rd drive provider changed in the same month. Earlier sent hp drive is copying data around 50gb and suddenly turning on all the lights of the front panel and the copying is stopping with an error of copyright and the tape is going to inconsistent state. So I returned it, but provider said it is perfectly working there after they received it.
That it the reason they were insisting the problem must be from my side.

January 18, 2021 at 4:25 pm in reply to: LTO cartridge taking long time to erase new/old mediaAnother point is while formatting the cartridge it is saying “changing the drive setting to write anywhere mode” which actually prevents the tape ejecting. But still why is the tape getting ejected while formatting or running the backup?

January 18, 2021 at 4:23 pm in reply to: LTO cartridge taking long time to erase new/old mediaHi Tim,
thank you for your quick reply. All I am doing is giving format command from hpe graphic user interface. There isn’t two option like you said quick or full tape erase. And it is not taking like 4 hours to fomat just a few minutes than regular.
I even tried with command line using terminal with mkltfs -d 0 result is the same. As you said I tried wipe the tape and reformat still didn’t help.

I know I have been jumping on to an older post. Did you figured this out?
I read somewhere in the ibm website, if you’re using an IBM drive in MAC OS X while you are formatting a new tape using terminal just add -c with value 1 or 0 to should enable or disable the compression on your drive.
I don’t have any exact idea which number is for disable. I am using an HP drive now so can’t confirm it. Just try it if you still facing the issue or just ignore.

January 31, 2019 at 3:33 am in reply to: I am lost in archiving using YoYotta LTFSHi Neil Sadwelker,
I am actually using HP LTO 6 drive full height. Among from the 1.92Tb only 280gb is arriraw and the remaining are mxf files from alexa mini. I am copying these files from Stardom I310-SB3 single bay usb 3.0.
Thanks for your clarification about the verification process time.
PUNE is not actually the city name I mentioned in my name it’s my last name. I am from Hyderabad actually.

January 30, 2019 at 12:24 pm in reply to: I am lost in archiving using YoYotta LTFS@Martin Greenwood
Thanks a lot. It actually worked and working good.
As using it from last night I faced few issues and have doubts as well. Hope any one of you can have a solution or explanation.
Can I access the data copied through yoyotta with any other LTFS like HP, IBM etc. in the future?
I couldn’t copy data to the previous formatted LTFS tapes which are actually formatted with HP LTFS. The tape is actually mounting through yoyotta. After adding as the destination it is showing not loaded. While I am trying to make copy it is keep telling me tape not available in the message box. So I tried insert a new tape and formatted in yoyotta which is transferring fine.
The transfer speeds are not going up than 100mbps. And the verification process is taking too much time than the transfer time. Is it normal. Last night at 8pm I put the transfer of 1.92TB data and left from office. Today morning at 7.45 when I checked the system it is still showing 90min to finish the verification. That means a lot of time I guess. Please check the below screenshot for the result.

Hello,
The post seems like very old. But I am also getting the same error here with both the hp half height and full height external drive. Did anyone find a solution for this issue using the hp gui software?
It was fine with my earlier IBM drive. I am only getting the issue with hp drive and hp ltfs.
