Well Vishesh, you found the answer to my problem! I’m getting a shadow now. at first it was a small line, but after moving one of the masks I could get a thicker line that acts as a shadow. With softening in the shadow effect and resizing the mask it’s a proper shadow that moves with the top image. I haven’t found a way yet to let the top image come out of the background; putting it all in a precomp didn’t work, but that wasn’t the actual question. if you know a way to let it come out of the background (fade in is always a possibility, but I mean scale from 100% to about 150% with a short fade in of about 10 frames)in 3D layer in Zspace, would be super of course. I will try myself as well of course.
    Thanks for your help.

Alas this doesn’t work.Maybe I should explain better.
I’ve got background image. on top an adjustment layer. apply ‘magnify’to the adjustmentlayer. you get a circle with part of backgroundimage on top. I want a part of that cirle invisible so I use a elips mask. I want the resulting enlarged image drop a shadow on background image.
I’ve tried layer Styles. without luck.
I’ve tried Material options of adj layer Cast Shadows on. and backgroundlayer receive shadows on. Are there any other switches I should turn on? .can anyone help?

  • thanks for quick response
    My level is probably everage.
    I will look into elements3D.
You say if you have footage you need to track it. do you mean you need to track each eye seperately, cause it might change in depth over time.

    Thanks, I’ll check it out.
So there’s no way we can do it in Vegas? Like select more tracks and move it all at once? I use vegas pro 12.
    Thanks again.
    Hans.
