  • I don’t know how I could overlook that! it’s the solution.
    Thank you.
    Hans.

  • I went to the sony Vegas Pro page and saw that a better Graphics card could make the diffence. do you agree?
A card like nvidia geforge GTX570 speeds up playback performance by 3.3. see https://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/vegaspro/gpuacceleration

  • Thanks Steve for clearing that part of my questions. I will look around to find out what I need to be able to work with m2ts files.

  • Thanks Steve for answering.
Just to clarify the answer: is my system not good enough even with a previewsetting of “quarter” in the previewsettings?
And do you know what systemrequirements there are to work with .m2ts files, stereoscopic files from sony TD10?
    thanks again,
    Hans

  • Hi Bruce,
thanks for your answer..but you’ve got my question backwards. My point is: I can make 3D and view it side by side (half). no problem there. I’ve got several workflows I’ll share in a minute. My question is: Vegas has the option to export side by side FULL. but the resulting file can’t be used. Not in any application or hardware. It’s a wrong output. it’s 1920 wide and 1080 high with a lot of black on top and underneath. Vegas has a bug there I’m afraid. But maybe not..that’s why I have this question. I hope anyone has the answer and tells me (us).

As my workflow is concerned: I haven’t done much editing yet, but did quite a lot of tests and this has been working for me:
import in Vegas the MVC files. (in case of HDR TD10 that’s .mts or m2ts).
edit in Vegas, add titles etc. Export a file via Project>render as.
choose Sony AVCHD 1920x 1080-50i 5.1Surround. Open çustomize Template. go to Project tab and Stereoscopic 3D mode: side by side (half). Close the window and Render. You will get a .m2ts file that can be played on playstation3 in side by side mode. On your 3D TV you’ve got to make the settings right of course of it doesn’t recognize the side by side. That’s it. Works fine for me. Only it’s half the quality our camera TD10 gives us. So I’m hoping for a “full” solution.

  • Hi Bruce
    thanks for the answer.
I did watch the tut but it didn’t mention specificly the full side by side export. Its in Vegas as export possibility but it doesn’t export anything usefull. As far as I can tell. I want to play the file with Sony Playstation 3, so the whole workflow is with sony software and equipment.

    Hi Bruce
before posting my questions/issues with Vegas I was looking through other peoples posts (like I should) and I think we are at the same stage of developing our skills with Sony Vegas.
I’d suggest you keep track of my questions I will post very soon.

First of all; me using the same camera and new to vegas as well, I can tell you some things you didn’t ask but need to know.
I’ve been testing and trying for some time now and found out that Neo3D is not the way to go… It doesn’t support our camera for importing the files. once on a harddrive with HDlink (the importprogram)it looks like you can transfer it to a cineform file, but it only takes 1 side, so is not stereoscopic anymore. So you have the option to use MVC to AVI converter. The left and right eye files you get from these you can use in Neo3D and produce the needed cineform files. But it’s a lot of work. Just to let you know that neo3D isn’t the program we thought it would be.

You copied your files from your camera directly to a harddrive and get an .mts. When you use PMB, the program that comes with the camera, you can import from your camera to the harddrive and get .m2ts. (I don’t know the difference but it might do something different in Vegas). By the way; in PMB you can do some basic editing like cut and paste without changing the filestructure.

My files are automaticly in properties>media>pair with next stream mode.
You solved your splitscreen problem yourself. I use anaglyph for adjusting the stereo. with stereo 3D adjust both left and right eye moves. I’m using vegas 11. I don’t know if that’s different in 10.

I have the same problem with not playing in realtime. Someone else should give you advice on that one. (different graphics card.).

I’m having trouble with exporting and viewing. I’m going to post that in a different thread; I suggest you look at that one too.
I hope this has helped you in some way.
