duplicate the layer, then alt-drag a new source onto the new layer then just move it one axis to stack…. then repeat as needed.

That said, think about just using puppets. Nobody watches political videos so the views will be the same.

I simply use different language. “Want a Cadillac or a Chevy? Cool, that’s 5k vs 1k.
I simply explain I base bids upon hours spent. I lie about that too as my edit suite is quite out dated and slow. I don’t place clients behind it. I just keep my rates competitive and make less money via spending more time than others would. Fine by me. While I use to make more money, I also had to wear clothes and stuff.

  • No, they like to pay thousands after the artist explaining the meaning of the painting and being a counter culture.
A fine artists that applies rules is a house painter. An editor that applies rules works in news.
I, of course, am speaking creatively. Today, most new editors have no idea about setting levels… nor do the interns at stations who throw uploaded clips in the loop. Hence levels all over the place today. Things use to be regulated.

Always up to you and the piece. Also where you are going to upload it. If youtube, you can pick your thumbnail but Facebook likes to use the first frame so if you fade up it’ll display black. Still, I just go by the piece I’m working up.

  • The subject or talent simply moves in slow motion to real or fast and back to slow then you adjust your speed in post to your liking.

  • When editing for a client, it is to their liking. When making your own art, man the last thing to even care about is what others think. This is how and why some artists are famous and most are not.

October 17, 2018 at 7:35 pm in reply to: Is it necessary to match shots in editing like this?

The single most important strength an editor can have is to view the piece AS the audience. To be able to watch each edit without sore eyes.
Ever heard a car painter ask if runs or fisheye would be detected by the car owner? Nope… he sands and sands until smooth enough to clear coat it.
    … then buffs it.

  • There are no rules. That’s the only rule in editing. You simple massage it until it looks and sounds perfect. If it doesn’t, hit undo and trim some things.
This is both the great and horrible part about “film schools”. They often teach so-called rules, knowing there are none. Those who rise in this industry are the ones who listened and understood ALL of those rules so they could then PROPERLY break them.

Just stick to the norm, man. time and a half after 10 hours. Otherwise, either say yes or no to the hours needed.
And yes you can book before and after that. Be a big boy. Sleep when not booked.
