I usually get booked with a call but after that it’s all emails. I get the script via, email, they often drop off elements then cruise, and today, I email an approval or two, and today, 95 percent of my fullfillment is an upload.

Just make buddies with em as soon as you get there. Some like to cock block. I never cared. I always positioned myself to get what was needed and when/if the old photog wanted to put his bald head in the shot, that was between him and the mother of the bride next week when they watch it. It was certainly never anything worth fighting about on my end.

You’ll be better off spending that time marketing yourself in a way that brings clients to you rather than you going to them. Calling them can pester and it says “I’m at least deperate enough to spend the morning calling strangers so I don’t mind haggling my rate.”
Look, when slow, we all turn over every stone we can. The key is to have many familiar stones all around you at all times… before going freelance. -
How many folks you bring to you to such an event revolves only around what package was sold. If it’s a four camera package, I could see 4 dudes there, otherwise that’s just too many. Weddings don’t require much or any communication during the event. You can meet ahead of time to talk about who stays tight on the bride, who is wide, ect. The reception will just be you roming for the most part. If a same day edit was purchased, you’ll bring an editor to do his thang while you keep shooting. Still, not much to be talked about, really.

Because you are still filming them, you are a cinemagrapher. When you start shooting video, you’ll be a videographer. As long as ya tell a story with either, you are a filmmaker.
