you may be able to find some edl tools online that’ll rename your clips for you. do a quick search. It’s amazing how many little tricks you can find out there for nada.

dude, thats a tall order considering all the gotchas.
I’d go with a CMX3600 edl.
You will have to ensure your reel names are no more than 5 characters long. This will cause errors. If you rename then before hand, you can avoid much hassle. Also, ya can’t have more than 4 audio tracks. If ya do, just put those tracks in a seperate edl.
Of course you can have no filters, plugins or other than smpte transitions in the edl.

The most common way to get started is to do it for free.
or very little.
My first paying tv job was running prompter at a local news station for 3.35 an hour. My big break paid a whopping 18k per year but at 80 hours a week, that was quite a step down from that sweet 3.35 I was making the year before. It held more responsibilities though and my business card said editor on it. Sweet. I was learning more getting exploited there than I was learning in school paying hard-earned money for it.
Build a cool reel with that gear you have experience on, market it around and take what is offered. Smile alot too.

Sounds like you are using the animation codec or some uncompressed codec it’s having to translate. If oy use the uncompressed meridien codec you will see it using fast ijmport (it actually says this in the dialog box) and it’ll only take a minute
…alphas take twice as long.

If they have an Avid codec, awesome. Otherwise, the animation codec is generic and other than slower import times, yu won’t be hatin’.
RGB if no alpha, RBG+ if an alpha is needed.

Monitor them with external scopes. You can find em on ebay. You can also find some plugin scopage that can help with a quick search.
If your animations are coming from after effects, they can simply toggle a legal limiter and you wont have to change any levels.
