I have similar problems with my HD playback…I was told by Sony to capture my HD stream and then save it as an Mpeg-1 to make it an intermediate file. Then edit that version…andd titles and so on…then save that edited stream. Then, right click on that one, choose replace and then find the original HD stream you captured and click open and it will automatically replace the un-edited file with the edited one and re-instate the HD aspects…

I don’t know if this really works because I can’t seem to replace the file correctly.

Does any one know how to do that?

Could it be my processor…I have a AMD Athlon 3000+….but perhaps it is not meeting the 2.8Ghz transfer that Sony Vegas says you need to have in order to capture HDV? Although I am under the impression that the chip I have actually runs at that speed…

The card did not come with any drivers. I’ll have to double check on the make but it is a 6 pin…which is what the Sony support guy said to get. It cost me $27 for the card.

Well, I really wish I knew what else to do…I have diabled or uninstalled everything that could be running in the background. The only thing that I can think of is that its my processor.

Does it make sense that it works in Windows Movie Maker on the DV side but not in Vegas, which is where the frames are dropping?

I should also mention that my processor is an AMD Athlon 3000+ 2.0Ghz…I know on the Vegas support page it says a 2.8 Ghz for HDV but I am under the impression that my processor actually runs as fast as a Pentium 3?

Or, should I say, regardless of the processor make, does it need to have a 2.8 Ghz processor in order for it to work.

In DV mode I am still dropping frames like crazy…and I don’t think I need to have a 2.8 for that mode. Again, the weird thing is that I can capture my DV in Windows Movie Maker without a problem…no drops…Please help!!

Here is a link to a video I posted on viddler…you can see what I am talking about here…maybe the lines and breaks in the video are indicative of something?

I am not recording a live feed…its from the tape. I just tried to capture DV using Vegas…it works but I drop a lot of frames in the process. That doesn’t seem right to me…but I have never done it before either so it might be common place to drop so many.

Does it matter what firewire card I use? Thanks ks for the help!!
