    found the problem.
    Someone had labeled the custom file name on the back up machine as “Program B/U”. As soon as we removed the “/” it worked fine.

    250gig harddrives are getting real cheap. Also, using PPRo1.5’s Project Manager feature can greatly reduce the size of the files to “keep”. That and keep the original DV tapes stored in a fireproof safe.

    Mike – Other have answered your question regarding the use of DVCPro footage so I’ll leave that alone. As for real time viewing of your footage on an external monitor through PPro, I use to use a cheap little Canon Elura40 as a DV/analog bridge to view my footage. Just hook up the firewire from your puter to your camera and then take the video output from the camera (usually a triple mini connection to 3-rca’s) to the monitor. Works ok. There is a very slight delay in audio if you listen to both your computer and TV speakers at the same time. Something like 1/4 sec delay.
    I currently use the Matrox RTX100 card now and really love it.
