March 23, 2014 at 2:10 pm in reply to: 3 big projects coming up, considering a switch to PP from FCP7. Any insights to a few general questions I have would be very much appreciated…I’m running Premiere Pro CC on a 2008 8 core MacPro. I upgraded the video card to a Mac Edition Nvidia gTX680 and it works great. I can do 7 or 8 layers of effects in real time. The switch from FCP7 to Premiere Pro was pretty seamless. They even have a FCP7 keyboard shortcut set. The performance is light years ahead of FCP7.
I’ve edited 1 60 minute doc and countless shorter videos. Can’t say I have anything negative to say. Adobe has pretty much fixed any issues I’ve had through updates.

February 10, 2014 at 10:21 pm in reply to: GeForce GTX680 and Maverick: Playing nice together? The only real advantage to the Nvidia GTX680 over the AMD 5770 would be for the Adobe products that take advantage of CUDA acceleration. If you have Cuda enabled there is an enormous advantage of the GTX680 over the AMD 5770. For OpenCL Apps such as Final Cut Pro X, I’m not sure you would notice much of a difference.

February 10, 2014 at 7:34 pm in reply to: GeForce GTX680 and Maverick: Playing nice together?I have a MacPro 3,1, with a Mac edition Nvidia GTX680 and Mavericks 10.9.1 and it works awesome with Premiere Pro CC. The only driver you need to download is the Cuda Driver on the Nvidia website. The actual video card driver is built into Mavericks.

Yeah Bob. I’m running a 2008 Mac Pro with 16gig of Ram. 8 core, and a Nvidia GTX680 Card and the computer is very very fast. I’m sure not as fast as a 12 Core, but still works great. I saw a site called “GainSaver’ that sells really really cheap computers, but I’m not sure how reputable they are. I haven’t heard of anyone actually buying a computer from them. I got mine on ebay about a year ago.
On another note, I have 2 Mac Pro 1,1 Qaud Core’s I’d be interested in selling if anyone is interested.

There is a Mac version of the GTX680. You get boot screens to. I’m using it and it makes my old Mac Pro fly in Premiere CC.

I think I solved my issue. I have a Kona3G card installed. With the 10.4.8 Adobe drivers installed, Speedgrade crashes. When I uninstall the Adobe drivers, Speedgrade starts up. I tried this a few times, so I’m pretty sure it’s the Aja Adobe drivers. I’m sure they’ll have a patch for it.

I’m having the same issue. I cannot get Speed Grade to open at all. Even if I try to open it directly. I get a ‘SpeedGrade quit unexpectedly’ error. Exception type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS. I too have FX Factory, but I disabled it as Oliver did and it still crashes.

October 23, 2013 at 6:57 pm in reply to: How many post houses/production companies are using Premiere CC? (not CS6)We’re a small shop, but we switched entirely over to Premiere Pro CC. We’ve edited 2 documentaries, 35 videos for Kennedy Space Center, and a whole slew of videos for Disney in the 2 years we’ve been using it. We’ve tried using Avid, then Final Cut Pro X, but keep coming back to Premiere.

I just went into Mission Control Preferences for the MacOS and turned that option off. It now works just like it used to.

Still doing it. I’ve reset preferences. It’s very annoying.
