Try this…
1. Select footage in question in your bin.
2. Right click to “interrupt” footage.
3. Select and change the audio from stereo to “duel mono”4. Go back to your timeline, “mark” your clip for in’s/out’s
5. Go to the “in” mark and mach-frame the clip.
6. You should now see that you have two channels of audio that you can now patch.
7. Patch those two to the audio layers you want… say 3 and 4.
8. Hit the record button. You now have separate audio channels to work and do with as you please.No need to re-import… no need to re-edit. Well, you are re-editing a little bit. But it goes fast!
But next time. It is helpful to set up the preferences to import all clips as duel mono.Try it. See if it works. Good luck!

Actually, that does not work with an IN and OUT set in the timeline. That only works with “selected” clips in the timeline. To perform a “ripple” edit with and IN and OUT set, you have to hit the “extract” key. (it’s the comma, quote key).
Just make sure you all your video and audio tracks are patched. Or even better, patch which tracks you want to ripple delete.
Now if only the “markers” would ripple delete too. A good feature request for all readers.

You are not alone… That crazy yellow box is very annoying (in the project window)! It’s always reminding me the name of my bin or clip… which I can already clearly see! I’ve filed a “feature request”. Hopefully more will do the same. Something as simple as a check box for “tool tips” in the “General” preferences would be great.

I agree with Mr. Lopez. It would be nice to have some/more control of a clips audio in the source viewer. For instance… how do I set a BARS AND TONE clip to be -20db, or say -12db?? Unless I’m missing something I don’t see a way to EXACTLY set these levels? Even when the clip is in the timeline/sequence. When I’m trying to set to -20db, I’m sort of guessing by looking at my meters. When I used FCP, I would just load the clip into the source viewer, click on the mixer and hit -20. Boom.. done. Drag that down into my timeline/sequence and I had a -20db tone. I miss that….
With that i mind…. I also wish there was a way to toggle the mixer to not only adjust TRACK volume… but CLIP volume as well. When trying to adjust volume to a clip in the timeline/sequence… it would be great to have more precise control that just trying to adjust a little yellow line up and down with your mouse….

Well as it turns out I just went in to After Effects to create the effect I was looking for. I was quickly able to build my composite and move/zoom/pan/rotate my footage without zooming/panning/rotates the matte as well. I hope Premiere offers a “alpha matte” soon.

No… don’t really need to motion track. I tried using the track matte with no luck. I tried it with a white matte made in Photoshop and with Premiere’s title tool… but a very weird thing is happening. To long to explain here.
But I’m not trying to move or animate the matte anyway. I want it to stay still. What I need is to zoom/pan a piece of video/graphic within the matte. Although, when I do move stuff around, the matte moves/grows with the it.
Yea, maybe I need to learn to do it in AE now. Try that “New AE Composition” feature 🙂
I’m just a little frustrated that I need to do that. I would think a simple matte would have worked. A lot of it may be do to that fact that I’m learning a new program too…

[It’s already doing what you want, you’re just not seeing it. You UN-check A1 and A2. V is still checked]
This is the problem! The V does not stay “checked”! As soon as I uncheck the two A boxes… the V box unchecks itself and grays out! I know you guys are saying that’s not possible… but that is what it is doing!
[So the application grays out the one remaining checkbox, but it’s still checked]
Like I said… not for me!
