I just switched from Vegas 8 to version 10. Editing AVCHD is a breeze. Version 8 would not read the video I captured in Final Cut Pro. Version 10 reads and edits the FCP captured video without a problem.

Thanks Alf, I’ll give .png a try. I did my best to like FCP but I’ve given up on it. I do like Motion though.

I’m taking the QT movie directly into DVDA and burning BD. I may add an HD to the Mac Pro and format it NTFS if that’s the answer.

I may have a break through in the FCP to DVDA problem.
My former workflow was to export the QT movie using ProRes 422 to a Mac Extended Journaled HD. A short clip would be recognized by DVDA but not a 30 minute movie.

I formatted an external HD to Windows FAT using Mac Disk Utility.
Both the short clip and the 30 minute movie now work in DVDA. I have the latest versions of QT in both Windows and Mac. Only one problem, Vegas 9.0c plays the imported QT movie audio but the video is black. The movie plays fine in Windows QT player.

You can read plenty of threads here about .mov and Quicktime problems with Vegas. Things that used to work no longer do because of QT updates. Apple FCP team just laid off 40 engineers, maybe that has something to do with it, I don’t know. I wish there was a simply answer.

It works but the menu is simply play movie, not sub menu. I installed a Pioneer BDR-205 in the Mac Pro and that works fine. If you try it buy a BD-RE erasable BD to practice with.

    Ed,
Toast 10 can burn a BD using FCP files. The menu is not very professional looking, I was not impressed. I’ve tried for weeks to find a format that is compatible with both FCP and Vegas. Sometimes a codec would work on a clip from the camera but when I tried with a 30 min project Vegas would not recognize it. Apple Quick Time was updated several times recently and that seems to be the problem. Reverting back to early versions didn’t help me. I did have it working early with an Export using QT-ProRes 422 720P. That quit working after a QT update. Maybe things will work again with future update but for now I’m tired of wasting time trying to make it work.
