I believe the Quadro FX 4800 is not supported under Adobe’s Mercury Playback Engine YET. As it’s time consuming to test and confirm each individual card I would give it some time before this card is confirmed. That being said, however you are able to “hack” (which really isn’t hacking) the .txt document associated with the CUDA supported cards by simply adding your card to the text document and saving it back to the Premiere Pro folder.

Make sure Adobe isn’t running and you have the latest graphics drivers for your card.

You should then see the ability to use the Mercury Playback Engine. Give some feedback to Adobe with any success you have with your card after using it for a few weeks and using all the available functions Adobe has to offer with it’s MPE and CUDA.

By ‘squeezing’ I’m assuming that you’re meaning the video has a “squeezed” look and is somewhat distorted? As far as I can tell the image quality is very good after the downscaling from 16:9 to 4:3 with letterbox, which maintains the 16:9 image. (with maximum quality, etc)

As far as taking the HDV timeline and putting it into a DV timeline and leaving the letterbox, would you suggest importing the HDV sequence into the DV timeline or would you suggest importing the individual HDV timeline elements (essentially a copy + paste) into the DV timeline? How would Scale to Frame Size effect each?
