Wow, that’s pretty cool! Do you know any work arounds to get hdmi out of an HVX200? lol, I kid… But that would be really cool though. I’ll have to wait until I get the AF100. Panny should take an AF100 and replace the guts with one of these bad boys… Same imager, but records 10 bit native to prores 422 on a removable SSD (or heck, P2 is still cool by me).

you know, i’ve never heard of the ninja before, but I checked it out, and it seems pretty cool. I really like the idea of the device being the monitor also. I bet that connected to the af100 could take some great shots.

This is something that I’ve been thinking a lot about lately – the AVCHD codec I mean. I’ve never shot nor edited with it – currently I own an HVX-200. The thing that I wonder about is color space? From what I understand, and please correct me if I’m wrong, doesn’t the AVCHD codec record in 4:2:0? How does that compare to DVCPRO HD at 4:2:2? It seems to me that on paper DVCPRO HD would be vastly superior, but since you have to transcode AVCHD anyhow in post, are the differences even noticeable? I guess when I hear about anything less than 4:2:2 my mind is drawn back to miniDV – and probably unfairly so.

And to add to it, Jobs says iMovie “is not a toy, you and edit movies with it.” Oh, and btw, this is iMovie for iPad. Wasn’t FCPX built off of iMovie? At least that’s what I’ve heard. watch this video here.
I wonder if this is any indication of Apple’s vision for watching video in the future?
