    Hi,

do you have the monitor connected to the 5770? If so, that’s what Resolve Lite will see (at least until it has been set up).

Also, did you set up the drivers for the Nvidia cards? Make sure you follow all the instructions particular to your OS.

After installing/verifying the drivers, connect the monitor to one of the Nvidia cards, reboot, and Davinci should see it.

Once you get the full version, you will have more flexibility with the cards.

    Hope this helps,
    Gray.

    Hi,

thanks! No, I don’t use the Adobe Media Encoder. This happens when I’m rendering a sequence, and also when I do a direct export from the program.

    I’ll email you directly.

    Thanks,
    Gray Jones.

    Hi Alex,

thanks for your quick reply! The file size would be huge, as the podcasts are 45 minutes long. I’m open to whatever you think I can test on my end.

Rendering in 5-10 minute chunks seems to work, so I’m not sure a small project would be able to isolate the problem.

What do you think I can do to test?

Incidentally, I’m not rendering with the maximum quality option. Also I should mention I use a custom ProRes sequence preset for my sequences, rendering, and exporting.

    Thanks,
    Gray.

    Hi,

I completed the first of the three demos, for the Netstor TurboBox PCIe expansion enclosures:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGxuCd0mWgA

I’ve been using a TurboBox Rac in my home studio for a couple of weeks now, and have found it to be rock solid and fast. I’m not doing any stereoscopic or RED work, but as far as I can see the TurboBox should perform as well as any similar-spec’d enclosure from other vendors, and the prices are very competitive.

    Thanks,
    Gray.

    Hi,

thanks for your quick reply! I’ll give that a try.

It’s hard to see from a still, but this is what the effect looked like on Claire Danes:

It was very organic, evolving. I think your tips should work to get what I need.

    Thanks so much!

    Cheers,
    Gray.

One more response from Graeme Nattress:

    Hi Gray,

Well…. My plugin is not adaptive in the way that compressor is – so the quality is constant. With compressor on full, it’s very adaptive with optical flow, which can work wonders, but sometimes breaks, producing artfacts. At it’s best, it’s better – when it breaks….

Best thing is to try the demo and see. Set motion blur on my plugin about 15% for best resolution.

Just a note that I heard back from Graeme Nattress:

    Hi Gray,

It works great with FCP7! For HD sources remember to set field orders to upper.

Compressor can theoretically get better results than my plugin, however, when I tested it on it’s best settings it was around 30 times slower, and hence impractical. At lower settings that rendered faster, compressor looked worse. The plugin therefore sits in the nice sweet spot between those extremes. Best thing to do is try the demo and see how it looks to you.

    Graeme

Still looking for other feedback… is it true that albeit slow and impractical, Compressor’s best settings will produce a higher quality output than the Nattress plugin? What about glitches?
