There is something other going on. Any residual Track Motion or Pan/Crop key Frames been over looked? I’ve only done this if I’ve left some pesky, redundant KFs in the mix. Do a thorough audit of your KFs. Weird….

Try the “Disable Resampling” Switch at the Event level. You can get better. But now I’ve thrown in the towel and purchased the Mighty TWIXTOR. It was on offer years back by SONY. Gets me smooth solid slomo with 24p. But even still, I need to Disable Resampling.

Yeah, tough is a great description indeed! I’m guessing they used a Text Plugin to do this. Vegas has some, and yes they do come close to what you want, but each one, for this manipulation would be less than adaptable resulting in madness! Personally, I’d reach for my NewBlueTitler Pro5, it’ll do this and much much more . . .
However, if you don’t wish to spend the money then try EACH word on a separate Track and get the sync within Pan/Crop or Track Motion to make words slide-in, disappear etc etc. You’d get far more control and be able to get what you want. Now, if you want to adjust your results in and out of your MAIN video set up your Text VEG Event as a Nested Veg and you can have more control and NOT confuse your Main video – yes? Votre anglais est bien mieux que mon français!

Over the years you’ve been editing in Vegas Pro is this the first instance of crashing this way?

Yeah, it does take time to get a grip on this.
1] For the present just ignore the Looping Notches.
2] Place your First Marker where you want a change and Name it – CRASH or whatever, it’s your reference.
3] Where the VeloEnvel and Marker intersect Add Point.
4] If you wish/want to sustain the NEW velocity change its value to HOLD and apply the velocity you want: 200%, 400% or anything.
5] Go to your next point of reference, HITCHHIKER, or whatever . . . add MARKER and name it Hitchhiker. and repeat 3] and 4] above.
6] Now observe where your Notches are they getting ever closer to your changes? If so you are starting to run out of Video, and so be aware!
The HOLD is not just for STOP it is to also sustain a velocity. TIP: set your PREVIEW PLAYBACK to someting less than 1, I’ve used 0.25 on those faster sections. This assist me in getting a finer understanding of what te video looks like at a 1/4 speed WITHOUT screwing with the Velocity Envelope.
