When I click on clip settings in the bin, it says “no items have files that are applicable to this operation”.

    Hope that helps.

With the HVX files, I imported through the panasonic P2 option. Then I imported the mov. files that were made from the panasonic import into the sequence with the previous mentioned settings.

Other formats, I have the mov. files of.

    Thank you,

The footage is 16mm (DVcam transfer). HVX202 and XDcam.

Am I reading this right, that working from an external hard drive will not be possible? The laptop only has a internal of 112GB.

    Thanks,

    Graeme

So what settings should I have if I am cutting footage that has been cut on various formats? Such as a show reel.

    Thank you,

    Sorry,

    It is FCP 5.1 DVCPRO HD 1080i50. HD 1440 x 1080 16:9

    Is this sufficient info?

When I click on the file in FCP, it comes up with a warning box –

“codec not found. You may be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card.”

When I try to play in quicktime it says, I lack something which takes me to a site which I cannot work out which I need. It does not explain.

    Thank you,

[John Fishback] “raylight for Mac will do it. I love this program. After it’s installed it extracts to the shared folder in the users folder a small mov file for each mxf file on your external drive. Then you can use Quicktime viewer to watch them.”

I have downloaded a trial version.

I can’t see it working, it doens’t seem to allow me to direct it to a particular folder to extract(scan) the mxf files. I have checked the folder it has set up in the “users” folder, and it only has a text file.

Am I missing something, to my knowledge the trial version limits the playback to 10 second grabs only.

    Thank you,

If you can point camera down wind, all movement from crew should stop. People walking 20 meters away can stir dust. Get your body as a wind block too. Have a grip open a floppy around you to give you a sheltered area. Have your lens changing sorted so the lens is out of the port for the shortest time possible, ie. inspect the ends of the incoming lens before the old comes off , etc. Or you can just move the camera instead of changing the lens.

Hope I haven’t told you something you already know. Just to add , I was told never to blow into the lens port, you may stir a bigger monster.
