Well necessity is the mother of invention.
I was determined to get this to work and I have found a way:
1.With Automation off, set desired eq.
2.Add this eq as a preset
3.Set up the area to be eq -

Thanks so much for your detailed response. I tried it and it works really well.
However, what I’m really trying to do, is find a way to adjust eq, not while playing, but whilst “parked”. I want to just work on one small section until I have it eq’d just right, then go to another section.
But, to do this, I think I’d need some kind of set of automation envelope points after each new setting, otherwise, the automation envelopes curve from the beginning of the previous section and I want them start from the end of each section. I hope this makes sense. -

Regards quality, these are cassettes recorded as far back as 1974 so there quality is not great to begin with. Put it this way, I’m sure the client will be happy to sacrifice a little quality if it will save them more than a thousand dollars ! -

Thanks for pointing that out about the audio and the video going through different channels.
I had in fact adjusted that sync to the max of 12.
Anyway, I think (for the moment) I’ve pretty much solved the issue by creating an avi of the clip. It seems to hold sync far better than the Quicktime movie.
I also use Final Cut Pro and never have this kind of problem, but I like to use Vegas, especially when there are audio challenges as it’s far superior in the audio department.
