Hi,
I have done also tests with the new Hitachi external
USB Turbo 1TB and 2TB drives which are lowest priced
on the market compared to WD ones and I was preaty amazed
about the speed. Its is exactly around 33 MB/s and is no droping!
This I until now could not get even from dedicated USB HIGH Speed
Turbo sticks (around 28 Mb/s)! Compare that to WD USB external drives speed(around 13 Mb/s) and you shall see the dramatic difference.Best regards,

February 16, 2008 at 8:25 am in reply to: MacPro takes 5 minutes to start with HD Extreme cardHi,
This is now the normal waiting operation in the Intel 5400 chipsets like the new MAC PRO.
It happens also with the Decklink HD PRO DL PCI-X card
in the PC version of the Intel 5400 chipset.
It happens also in the HP XW-8600, Dell Precision T5400
and Dell Precision T7400 workstations.
And the PCI Express based Multibridge PRO2 is also
not supported anymore in the available workstations. After I had a lot of troubles with one of the new
Dell presicion T5400 workstations and I have got the official statement from Blackmagic that they shall not support the Intel 5400 chipsets based computers I have then tried my luck and I have bought all these workstations including the new MAC PRO and spend a lot of money to see, if the Blackmagic products are compatible with the avilable computers on the market and I have found out that they are not compatible anymore. The Blackmagic needs to release the new firmware to address the issues, but it is very unlikely that they shall do it, because they now only support the computers which are not available anymore although you can stil buy the older
MAC PRO in the few last stocks and you shall be just fine.Best regards,

Hi,
This is the audio hardware solution for all your problems:
https://www.rme-audio.com/english/firewire/ff800.htm
I have two such units and they are just incredibile. You can directly plug in several Neumann mics without
puting any noise mixer in beetwen and you shall be amazed of the quality of the converters.
And it is the best responding firewire audio unit around with almost no
latency what you can not say for other units on the market.
You even have the LTC out option if you want to zero stripe the LTC time code on Digital Betacam tape
for example from Nuendo application.
It works with any asio aplication including Premiere, Audition, Nuendo, Sonar and etc…..
And you can not do just one voiceover at once, but maybe 16 voiceovers if you like so.
I have tested a lot of such units, but belive me it is the best unit around.I have one portable Fireface 800 unit for my Dell Precision M90 laptop usages and one
hooked to my Yamaha DM2000V2 digital mixer via ADAT cables for the studio usages.
And belive me for now it made more than 2000 promos for HBO channel with the combination
of Powercore Firewire (usage of VSS and MD3 plugins), Yamaha DM2000V2, Neumann M149 Tube mics
and the Nuendo software without any issue.Best regards,
