“That is why those of us bitching about FCPX will save the rest of you apologists who make excuses for mediocrity!”
Well what a lovely friendly tone you have Herr Hussar. You seem to feel quite comfortable being so combative.
However I just dipped back into this forum to see how the haters are getting on. Now I think I’ll go back to the other FCPX forum again, it’s so much more positive over there. Bye!Godfrey Pye

I would be pleased if Steve and co are extremely unhappy at realizing the arrogance the company has displayed through this whole P.R debacle. Because arrogance is what they’ve shown to us.
I recall years ago, perceived arrogance from Avid was what helped turned many editors to FCP – it’s deliciously ironic isn’t it?
I hope that Apple will now quickly describe a clear path to how-and-when FCPX will get the improvements we all crave. As for me, I’m sticking with them – but God knows, they owe us big time.
And I don’t mean money, I mean in them showing us some respect.Godfrey Pye

Thanks Bret, but surely that won’t deal with the fact that the time is different too – 29.97 versus 23.98?
BTW: I see they want to demote us to the FCP Basics forum – bummer.Godfrey Pye

David, you are a prince among men.
I did what you suggested (tip No.1) and I have since tested FCP to the hilt.
It has worked so well that I am now definitely going to buy Disk Warrior (tip No. 2) immediately.
In fact I used to have a copy of DW back around FCP 5-time but I never needed to use it so it didn’t resound with me.I’m just about to start a job that calls for 10 x 5-minute webisodes of a program – and this fixed timeline is a joy. Anyway, must rush as I’m going to buy a new copy of DW immediately.
Thank you, thank you again.

David, If that’s what you’re recommending would you mind giving me the specific ProRez settings that you prefer?
Thank you.Godfrey Pye

Do you know – I just found that out for myself.
I did one more test, first converting it into the format you suggested and no render lines of any hue!
So thank you Colin.
It’s like calling the plumber when you have a blockage – and when he arrives, the problem fixes itself.
Many thanks again.Godfrey Pye

August 18, 2009 at 5:50 pm in reply to: New RAID-G-Speed ES Pro. Am I doing the right thing? It was me who asked the question “Am I doing the right thing?”.
A number of kind people responded with their advice – thanks to all you peeps.
Then I made my decision, OK after a mix-up with the G-Tech sales organization.
A mix-up which was beautifully sorted out when Sandy at Melrose Mac became involved.
And now my original question has been answered- and I believe I have done the right thing. As I write I am looking at my new G-Speed ES RAID.
In fact I’ve had it for a few weeks now and I am very happy with it.
I bought two units, each with four x 1.5 tb drives, that’s 12 tb of storage!
Actually it’s about 10.5 tb after striping the array with RAID 5.
Striping was easily accomplished, which surprised me as I’m a techno-dummy.
But now the two units work as one.It is indeed “whisper quiet”, as advertised, especially when comparing it with my outgoing Apple XRAID which was a good servant for 5 years, with only one drive ever going down – but that noise!
Now it’s been sold via eBay.Anyway, so far so good. I am delighted with my G-Speed ES. Just thought I’d let you all know.

I’m installing mine now, it arrived an hour ago.
No manuals, just a small book on the basics of FCP.Godfrey Pye
