remember that if your clip has audio, you will have to give him all the files in the folder with that name base…one will have a V in the name to indicate V, but you should also see 2 or more directly under or above it with A in the name to indicate those are the audio files.

When you first hit the reveal button, Avid will only show you the first of those files. If you go back to avid, it may then say reveal next?…so that might help you a bit as well.

if you just want to do a simple placeholder title…new blue is fine. There isn’t a lot to learn. Type your text, pick your font and exit. It will save as it closes, and give you the title in Avid.

If you want 3d text and lights and all that, then you will need to do some learning.

you might want to transcode the 5d stuff (H264?) I would keep the frame rate native for as long as possible. Allows a bit more flexibility when final online happens for tweaking settings.

As for what frame rate…what are your deliverables is usually a good place to start.

If you have to deliver a 25 fps master, than that is probably what you will want to work in.

Fusion is an excellent program. It has a track record that goes back much further than Blackmagic buying and selling it.
If you are coming from AE, be prepared for a bit of a learning curve. It has a different look, feel and workflow than AE does.

Timeline type adjustments are not quite as intuitive for building multiple shot sequences.

If you’ve used Nuke, you may feel more at home with Fusion.

This is what fusion is meant for. Once you learn the basics (loader, transform, animate and saver) it should take you about
5 mins.

Interesting. I’m on 8.5, working on an hour long doc right now, so there are lots of audio adjustments. I’ve also really started concentrating on training my brain with the Avid Artist controller, and to top it all off, i just switched to a new split keyboard (half on the left side of the Avid Artist, half on the right side) To accomodate that, i had to get a separate keypad, as the split keyboard doesn’t have one.

My point is, i know exactly what you are talking about…everytime i enter a double digit number into my keypad, it doesn’t work until the second time i enter it. -13 enter, and my mixer reads -3, so i type -13 again, and this time,
the mixer reads -13.
I assumed it had something to do with all the changes i made to my system hardware in the last couple of weeks, but maybe it actually is an Avid thing?

I too have had issues figuring out the timecode display in Resolve. If you right click on a timecode, you should be able to call up source vs record timecode displays.

Hmmm, the audio guy has given you an aaf and separate wave files? Not sure that will work. Avid would typically be building its data base around clips that are wrapped in MXF wrappers.

Have you tried selecting batch re-importing on the sequence, and pointing it to those wave files? From there Avid may be able to create the proper mxfs to let you run the program.

I usually just get the Protools engineers to send me a final mix (s) of the show, import them and lay them under my existing timeline. I’ve sent plenty of aafs out to sound, but i don’t know if i’ve ever received one back.

If i send aafs from one program to another, it usually has embedded audio in the aaf.
