Not sure i totally understand the problem here either. You have say 100 sequences, each with 1 video track. Lets say that track is called V2.

You want to cut those sequences, or part of those sequences into a new timeline that will also have only 1 video track, which you would like to have default to V2. You do not however want to take the enormous amount of time to hit a hotkey for new sequence followed by a hit key for create video track. (Say 3 seconds of wasted time per sequence…at 100 sequences…thats almost 5 minutes!

Yes you would then have to go and delete V1 off of each of these sequences. Lets say that takes another 5 minutes!

First question I would ask…if the sequence only has 1 video track, does it matter what it is label as? Im assuming you will still be using this sequence as a source at some point.

Solution 1:
Have you tried cutting everything onto V1 and then done a select everything command and simply moved the entire timeline up 1 track. I would think this would auto create a v2 track.

Yes you would still have to delete that pesky V1track…5 mins down the drain!

Solution 2:
In your settings tell Avid to automatically create all new sequences with 2 video tracks. This would save you the tedious 3 second task of having to create a new video track each time. Yes you still have to delete that darn V1…what is with V1? Its like it is just trying to drive you crazy!

Solution 3:
Create a macro to automate these keystrokes of creating a video track, and deleting V1….all with the push of 1 button. I know…I know…the pushing if that button does eat up valuable time. Lets say 1.5 seconds…Hey…i just saved 2.5 mins for every 100 sequences you have to do!

You need to go to the full screen playback setting tab, place the window that opens when you select those settings onto the monitor that you want to be your full screen monitor….then press the “Select Monitor” button.

From here you should be able to rearrange the other monitors to hold what ever bins, and windows you desire.

Save your workspace setting as 3 monitor layout, and start cutting.

Unfortunately you are still jumping to a totally different program, designed by a totally different company, so I think we are still several versions away from that type of interactivity. As it stands, all we are dealing with is a trigger to render media out of Resolve, open that media in Fusion, and then read that rendered media back in Resolve. There really isn’t a lot of interaction going on between the two programs yet.

Best solution at this point is to add another saver (if this can be done without the full fusion I’m not sure) and output a separate matte pass to bring into Resolve.

Excuse the question if you are well versed in Avid, but how are you targeting or untargeting the tracks? (including audio correct?)

I ‘m just making sure you understand how that is done.

if you have a single tracked timeline, does it still not work?

Also, have you checked your keyboard layout to ensure the shortcut hasn’t been changed? Are you using the default, or custom mapped?

This is one of the strangest questions I think I’ve seen posted on the forums over the years.

Why would you assume Avid and Premiere should be able to cut the same show at the same time, and talk to each other in some sort of kumbaya editing process? For many setups its hard enough to get two of the same programs to work together.

Heck, If we add a third editor on FCPx, then I can probably use my mac mini as well?

why don’t upgrade to a newer version of 14? It probably has some bug fixes over the version you are running.

You are probably not fooling Resolve by creating a black frame and calling it .dng?

you might want to instead copy the previous frame, and rename it to the bad frame. You would at some point have to go through and spot those bad frames and figure out if they need a fix.

Are you saying you want to apply the attributes of speed change from one shot to another shot?

Paste attributes is accessible in the edit/timeline view.

ctrl c to copy, ALT V to paste attributes. Also accessible from the edit drop down menu.
