  • Go to next event Shortcut Issue

Posted by Ben Harris on June 4, 2018 at 10:59 am

    Hi,

I’ve been having this problem on and off for some time now and it is really very frustrating. Whenever I use my go to next/previous event shortcut it will either go to the top or tail of the entire timeline. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Ben

Make sure you have a track targeted. If you want it to ignore track targeting, there is a a setting for that in preferences.

    Hi John

Thanks for your reply but I have this issue when tracks are targeted as well as when they are not

    Thanks

Excuse the question if you are well versed in Avid, but how are you targeting or untargeting the tracks? (including audio correct?)

I ‘m just making sure you understand how that is done.

if you have a single tracked timeline, does it still not work?

Also, have you checked your keyboard layout to ensure the shortcut hasn’t been changed? Are you using the default, or custom mapped?

I would like to give this post a bump as I’m having the exact same issue. This never seemed to happen before when the buttons were just Rewind/Fast Forward. It’s really annoying.

    Hi there,

I had the same problem. Even with track selected, it would jump only to the head or tail of the entire sequence.
You have to do one of the following as noted below:

    1. Right-click while hovering over source or record monitor and select ‘composer settings’.
Under the ‘move’ tab, check off the ‘ignore track selectors’ box.
    Hit ‘OK’.
Now the ‘go to next event ‘ or ‘go to previous event’ buttons should work.
    OR
    2. Hold down the ‘alt key’ while clicking the ‘next event’ button to move from edit to edit. This will allow you to go to the next transition on any track, regardless of the current track selection.

    I hope this helps!

COMPOSER Settings…MOVE tab. Check IGNORE TRACK SELECTORS…or if you have that on, make sure the track you want to go to the next event on is highlighted.
