Should you not be exporting them as 8 tracks?
5.1 plus stereo? (or 6 mono and a stereo pair?)

Where are you planning on putting the stereo tracks in relation to the 5.1 mix?

Typically you would have 6 mono tracks L R C LFE Ls Rs and either a stereo pair or (as I prefer) two mono tracks panned for the stereo version.

In Resolve delivery you then set up the individual track outputs under audio, checking that each mono track is listed as mono, and your stereo tracks for 7/8 are listed as you have them set on the timeline, as either stereo or duo mono.

You wouldn’t want to add the stereo mix into your 6 channels of 5.1 mix.

you should rename your original clips before you do your logging and editing. You are just making extra work.

Relinking to individual clips, that have different names, means you are looking for the conflict resolution icon as stated above, or make a new bin, import the newly named clips, and go through one by one in the timeline and ‘force conform with clip from media pool”

If you had renamed your originals first, you would just edit.

That does sound more like an indesing issue…if your mix down is clean and unfiltered version of the raw audio. I’m not sure how it deals with multi channel sources, as it doesn’t usually pull up a different result for each track, so maybe there is audio in one track that is throwing it for a loop?

    Win 7 or 10?
    Mac drive 9 or 10?

I have win 10 and Mac drive 10 pro running with no issues, although I think I’m still on 2018.3 or so.

Remember phrase find works on a phonetic level, not aproper spelling level. If you want to search for “Accident” you may have more luck doing a phrase find for “axe see dent” or something like that.

Can be fun trying to find the correct phrase…but when you nail it it is wonderful .

  • Not in front of a box right now, but there is an audio setting to combine bwfs as a single file or individual streams. I thought it only had to do with import, but perhaps not…or perhaps there is a similar setting in the multi group dialog.

Perhaps if you upload one of your files to we transfer, or smash, or dropbox i can try it on my system.
I run both windows and mac, so easy to see if it works in one and not the other.

I don’t know that windows has renamed them, but is rather suggesting a program to use them to open them up?
If you right click on a file and try “Open with” and try pointing it to Resolve as a preferred program..that might remove the WMP as the type? I wouldn’t think either way this would stop Resolve from opening them in the media pool anyway, something odd going on.

If you tell windows to show file extensions, I would hope it still has the original extension.

    Wow!

I’m sitting in a park bench right now, and I too know there is a keyboard command for these, but I’m not sure off the top of my head what they are, because I don’t actually use them …shall I run back to my suite and look them up for you before I continue with this post?

Joe has always had a great way of equating some of these ideas into everyday language…but i might have a new favourite now with “Remember a “fair ball” can be anywhere between first and third.”

I will be using that one at some point in the suite.
