Phrase Find
Posted by Peter Slabysz on May 22, 2019 at 7:49 pmI just installed the Phrase Find option and I’m a newbie to it. It finds some words, but clearly, there are clips it seems to be ignoring. Does this work for an Interplay environment? I was really hoping to use it for a News scenario where reporters are feeding in 5sec teases during a 30min clip that has a lot of other elements. Would Transcoding the part of the clip that has been captured help?

May 22, 2019 at 10:18 pmI take that back; I searched a few words today as another test. FAIL, even when I TRANSCODED a sub clip that included the phrase. I managed to find the phrase in the Audio Mixdown though. Any ideas folks?

June 5, 2019 at 3:48 amRemember phrase find works on a phonetic level, not aproper spelling level. If you want to search for “Accident” you may have more luck doing a phrase find for “axe see dent” or something like that.
Can be fun trying to find the correct phrase…but when you nail it it is wonderful .

June 5, 2019 at 2:39 pmI hear you. (no pun intended). But that logic does not explain why it would find the word in the Audio Mixdown, but not the original clip. Does Phrase Find listen to all audio tracks? I’m wondering if the noise from other channels is messing with the ability to hear.

June 5, 2019 at 4:33 pmThat does sound more like an indesing issue…if your mix down is clean and unfiltered version of the raw audio. I’m not sure how it deals with multi channel sources, as it doesn’t usually pull up a different result for each track, so maybe there is audio in one track that is throwing it for a loop?

The whole idea behind this feature is using it without anything like transcripts, as it indexes and searches phonetically. -

June 10, 2019 at 2:02 pmAs Job says, PhraseFind and ScriptSync are kissing cousins but each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Would be a great marketing piece to have where both are discussed in context.
