I don’t know much about the SxS cards, but if the structure is your only problem, you can create that with a virtual xdcam export. I usually do this, then copy the entire structure to our U1 drive. (anytime i output xdcam its for distribution to a couple of local broadcasters. This way i only have to make the files once, and then copy to as many discs as needed)

Do a google search for “virtual xdcam drive” sorry…windows only.

Did you set up a 24 frame project before you started? Resolve can’t change its project frame rate after the fact. Your initial setup needs to be set correctly (according to what you need it to be)

Don’t be afraid to uninstall. Think of all the time you’ve spent trying to fix the problem so far…then think of those 5 to 10 mins it will take to un-install and re-install Avid.

It will not delete any projects.

I have 1 system still using an Adrenaline. When it gets flaky it is usually because of the firewire needing a kick in the but. If you turn off the Adrenaline does the pc make the “dunk dunk” sound? You should hear that on power down, and about 10 secs after power up. If not, check your cable, and yes, as Richard said, unplug your other firewire devices.

Also check for the splash screen on your external monitor after power up. That is provided by the Adrenaline. If it is there, the Adrenaline is working.

    If those don’t work, re-install.

call support, tell them what you want to do. He’ll ask you for the dongle ID, and then send you a file to run
which will help program the dongle for you.

is your original still on a white background?

    Looks like a premultiplication issue.

Try opening it in Photoshop and resave on a black background with Alpha.

I aways find Avid prefers keyables to be on black, not white.

also could do the old fashioned way…call up your clip in the source side, and add a motion effect
set it to -100…or -200 …or what ever speed you want.

i’ve had some problems, not many, but occasionally spanned R3ds and Red Cine don’t play well.

In those instances i’ve just done an AMA and transcode straight in Avid. Try it, it will at least tell you if it is a red cine problem, or an R3d problem.

do a search for strawberry. I haven’t used it, but heard it may be a good alternative. As the story was told to me by a reseller, it was developed by a group of Avid editors who said “There has to be a better way”.

I did see an online demo several months ago..it looked promising

  • We’ve been using this method for offline for quite a while. Answers the editors question of “how long should the show be at 23.98…for me to hit the broadcasters length at 59.94”
