If you are using High res mxf in Avid, then your workflow sounds pretty similar. Consolidate and or transcode media to a location you can identify to resolve. Cleaning up your timeline as you described will never make your online editor unhappy.
Create an aaf and go over to resolve.
In resolve I typically import the media before I bring in the aaf.If you want to go back to R3ds or something else, the only thing that changes is you also have the option of telling resolve you want to go to camera originals, in which case it will ask you where they are during the aaf import process.
remember to spit out a reference qt as well. I like it when it has a burn showing record time, and source time/file name. if there are any issues, that helps narrow them down pretty quick.

I have a few different systems, and they all have different I/O devices. My main box uses a Kona 3. Certainly not in the “cheap” category, but perhaps one of the best alternatives, if Avid is your only concern.
I Have a Matrox MXO2 which I used to use with an older Mac Tower. It has since been relegated to “if I need something on the road” status. Works quite well, and has a nice form factor with Analog and digital ins and outs, and can be hard wired into a desktop, or slide into a PCMCIA type port on a laptop. I just discovered the drivers for it are not compatible with Avid 8.3 yet…so be careful.
The reason the Mxo2 was relegated was because of my need for Black magic devices to run as well, so my Mac tower currently has an Extreme 3d from Black Magic in it. Again, pretty much every I/O type you could ask for. No longer sold however, and again, not cheap…pretty much the same as their high end 4k card.
(4k extreme)My main box (with the Kona) also has a BlackMagic 4k capture card in it. It is the Decklink SDI 4K..about 180.00 or so? I need it more for monitoring out of Resolve (and now fusion..which seems to have lost its Kona ability with BM buying it!) but I see no reason it wouldn’t work for ingest as well.
My latest is a Black Magic Mini recorder. Got this off Ebay for a pretty reasonable price. It will probably come on the road with me next time. I’ve used it for a test only on my HP Laptop. HDSDI in and then connects to the laptop with thunderbolt. The test I did worked well, and it is very small for portability. It doesn’t have machine control, if you would need that, so it is definitely geared towards a specific userbase.
For proper machine control, I would try Kona, MXO2, and then one of the BM cards with that function attached. They all play nice with Avid, but only the BM products will work with Resolve as well, if that looks to be in your future.

Unless you really need some of the other options from the adrenaline box …tc out, two channels of SDI out, analog audio, it would be way easier to simply ditch it, spend 150 dollars for an inexpensive piece of capture hardware, and stick with the 6.5 version…or upgrade and get current. AMA, as well as other features run much better on the newer software.

If you are on a node and you go to your tracker and switch it over to stabalizer, then you are now stabalizing the node.
Is that what you are asking?

Check your processes and make sure Resolve has actually shut down. I’ve had this happen when Resolve locks onto an external drive and simply won’t shut down properly.

Its probably because that looks to be a 3d dve move, which could include perspective moves and such that Resolve can’t handle. It is possibly that Resolve simply ignores that effect, whether or not any of the perspective switches are being used.
If you are looking for straight scaling, try the resize or PIP from within Avid and see if that comes across.

This comes up every now and then. If you do a search for Resolve audio channels, you’ll see some posts.
Last time I worked with audio like that, I had to select each clip in my media pool, and assign its channels manually, through the clip properties- audio tab.
Resolve sees 6 audio channels and assumes it is 5.1, so that is what it assigns it. Doesn’t seem to be a “don’t do this” button anywhere.
8 channels may become 7.1…not sure about that, but same issue, you have to manually tell resolve what your audio source is, on a per clip basis.

Nick, as it says here, Avid will only write to the “1” folder.
So along with everything else listed above, I would rename my “1” folder on the raid to something else, while you work on this project. At the end of this project, you can then take all the files in the “1” folder, and add them to your consolidated drive for the next time you have to work on this project. This will keep anything new you add to the project separate from the original consolidated media, but at the same time, make it easier to find and archive for future use.

Perhaps a screen grab of your media location would help. This sounds like you are simply missing the files. Is there any way the video was ama’d and the audio was imported?
