How you been Jason,
I made a mistake about mpeg2 4.3.
Program stream mpeg2 with certain megabits. Let me know if you want to know. And that is
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG_program_stream4.3 I was referring to old Mpeg 4.3 which is this
https://www.cs.sfu.ca/CC/365/mark/material/notes/Chap4/Chap4.3/Chap4.3.htmlAs you learn the algorithms, they are a lot of fun. I love it.
The recent algorithm engines are more fun and contains broad capability. Matrox MAX is awesome for that reason. Compressor is great, too. I think Apple should have whatever next generation Ipad have the FCP compatbility to have some faders, and short cut buttons like Euphonix. I think they should team up with Euphonix to come up with some serious Ipad/Euphonix collaboration.

You are right about Matrox MXO2 series being the best product in its category out there, Jason.
Yet, there is a significant quality and file size difference between compressor and Sorenson 6.
I use compressor to encode my mpeg 2 program stream files for the show we produce. Well, that takes about 3.5 hours with instancing on an ’08 3.2GHZ Octo. (From AIC 1920X1080 H.264 MPEG 4.3, 4:2:0 to NTSC) For the internet, MXO2 mini MAX is blazingly fast for the content we produce for internet.
I need to check and see what I am doing wrong. Every time, I send the content directly from the FCP timeline to compressor, it takes whole a lot longer to encode. I will go over my workflow to see what I am doing wrong. Thanks for the tip Jason.Mac 3.2Ghz 20TB Macbook pro Pnyrn 2.5 4GB 10TB 2009 LOWA Award 1st place Broadcast Sportsman’s Paradise

Petros is pretty right about the issue. I recently got Matrox Mini MAX. You also need to export a movie file and dump it in compressor in order for MAX technology to work its magic. If you send your sequence to compressor directly from Final Cut, it won’t work_unless If I am doing something wrong_
I wish it would work with Sorenson 6 H.264 Engine. Check out Sorenson’s website to see who are using their product. I wish Sorenson would come up with something look like an El Gato usb stick device to do some serious H.264 encoding. In my opinion, big boys gotta make money with their pristine looking content before the dude with sub $1000 DSLR go out and open up his on TV station_
Well, price the Sorenson Squeeze Stick (SSS_Drive_see I have a name for you all too) around $499 and sell like 100k unit. It would be sweet. You can also put a wireless/bluetooth on the SSS to shoot it to directly Sorenson 360 website and make little more on cloud computing.
Matrox is a nice box though. Is Sorenson hiring a project manager ?

December 9, 2010 at 7:51 am in reply to: English guide track and separate M/E tracks (music and effects)Thanks to you all. I saw some horrible grammar and misspelling in my post. I extremely apologize.
I will go ahead and reduce the mixed audio track 1&2 and find the exact music/s and FXs and cut them frame by frame then layer them as AIFF. Make sure to keep the levels sane as well.
I like getting scared on this one. It was pretty powerful. One of the guys here I adore is Bob Zelin.Mac 3.2Ghz 20TB Macbook pro Pnyrn 2.5 4GB 10TB 2009 LOWA Award 1st place Broadcast Sportsman’s Paradise

December 1, 2010 at 3:01 pm in reply to: English guide track and separate M/E tracks (music and effects)Due to lack of HDD space beck then, I couldnt keep the sequences. It seem like I am in trouble. Plus they want me to cut the 1 hr shows down to 30 min. The vide andaudio is mixed in two tracks so there is no way separating those I believe. Maybe I can cut them down to 30 min and lower the volume on everything and cut a new music as a 3rd track. I will go ahead and learn how I can export out with 4 track audio/ 1 video out of Final Cut. You guys are awesome. I learn so much from Creative Cow and the people with huge hearts wanting to share their knowledge. When I first signed up for Creative Cow, I didnt even know how to conform and print to tape HDV. Now, I am doing whole a lot better:) Still need to learn my audio though:)

December 1, 2010 at 1:31 pm in reply to: English guide track and separate M/E tracks (music and effects)Hello Everyone,
I have the same issue. I have cut 44 1hr outdoors shows and we are working with a company to get us to international market. Her exact words were“Scripts are needed for translation into another language as are separate M/E tracks. If you get a deal where you need scripts, there are companies that do this. Separate M/E tracks can also be done, though not as easily. ”
I have 1hr AIC and ProRes .mov files with 2 channel mixed audio. Is there any way to get around this with what I have ?
I am scared 🙂

What are your computer specs? I have MAc Pro 3.2GHZ late 2008 with 8GB RAM. Just ave them copy and paste the entire content on a usb stick or something and dump it on your computer. Log and TRansfer will automatically prores those files. Here is a lot of people ignore. Until they come up with a RAW codec, you are dealing with 4:2:0 sampling. You have no luma in there. I cut a lot of AVCHD files like that and best way to do it is the log and transfer as prores and cut it on an AIC timeline. It will keep your black levels in a whole a lot better shape and you won’t have smothered footage. Colors will be more vibrant and the contrast will be better. Anytme you deal with 4:2:0 sampling cut it on AIC. I have done a lot of test with these files. AIC holds better with AVCHD files. Even with Canon 5D footage or Canon HG10’s.

AVCHD cameras shoot 24Mbps at the most which is 3MB or so roughly. So you have 3MB of information and putting it our on ProRes to 25MB does not change the 3MB information size. You will have 22MB of empty data if you do that. Best thing to do is to edit the footage on AIC timeline and put it out as either AIC or HDV1080i60 deinterlace it and here you go. Before you export it out you can also use filter settings in the export menu on FCP 6.0.3. Thats what I use. I hope this helps. Deinterlace the footage though. Also get the magic bullets. You will be amazed once you play with it. Learn the basic color correction. You will see ton of difference on your footage.

I have been reading your comments and they are very helpful. Here is my problem. For the first time, I need to prin to video to HDv. Here is what I do. Edit AVCHD on an AIC timeline and create a new sequence of HDV 1080i60 29.97fps sony hdv and copy and paste my footage on there. Computer does not ask to conform anything and I just render it. Then I tried to print it to video using and Sony HVR m25AU deck and nothing gets on it. Deck doe not even picks up the signl because the i link led indicator is not lit. I tried it many times making a hdv qt file and putting it on the sequence and all but no luck. Even it is 1080i60 the time on it shows 29.97fps. I set it ip to 59.94 and tried it nothing happens again. What do you think? I need to check out the full render issue to see if it asks me to conform anything
