    Thank you for this.

I guess that what I am looking for is this:

-I have created subtitles for the video in FCPx and followed the Larry Jordan directions exactly.
-I am not sure why the subtitles are all over the place at the bottom of the screen, but more importantly (now that I know that you cannot even see it!),
-How do I burn those subtitles in?

The main reason for the subtitles is so that they will auto-play for our adverts on instagram and FB. So, they need to be burned in.

Can FCPx do this? You can see the subtitles in the screenshot. That is taken from the quicktime FCPx export.

Argh! Me neither. They are on the video, just not after the vimeo upload it would appear.

Not sure how to upload a video to this post as it said the file wasn’t supported?? It is a 28mb quicktime video.

Thank you so much for this. I have been trying to follow your advice, but it just won’t relink!

To be clear – we live in different cities, so I don’t have her external drive with me to easily relink. I have all of the same media files on my drive, so I am not sure why it won’t relink. I have tried to modify the library settings (directing all of the media, cache, library) to be stored on my drive, but I think that that is just going forward? It will not relink without her drive being plugged in as well.

I am just now trying to copy all of the events to my drive to see if that works.

If it doesn’t, I was thinking of just doing a full copy of everything of her entire folder, copying it on to my drive (deleting the other one) and then re-directing everything to my drive. Would that work for re-linking?

If I may, I have noticed as well that her drive has an extra file with ‘final cut optimized media’. It is GIGANTIC and seems redundant as all of the original files are there as well and they are 1/4 of the size. Can we deleted the optimized media, and how to we avoid this in the future if we don’t need it?

Is there an incredible online course out there that covers all of this stuff in great detail? I feel like we are missing some very key things in this area!

    Thank you again 🙂

  • Oh my god. Ridiculous. Always so easy when someone points it out. I clicked everything BUT that.

Thank you to all of you!

  • Hello again,
Thank you so much for your advice. However, I just cannot seem to find the area you are talking about!! Would you happen to have a screenshot or two?

I have attached a screenshot of what I see in the inspector (I did choose the ‘custom’ generator – so thank you for that!). I cannot seem to change those RGB colours to what they are (mine are in the hundreds and it won’t go up that far).

    Thank you!

  • Thank you so much! I will be trying this out this afternoon and will post my results. Much appreciated 🙂

  • Thank you so much for your response!

We will try these and I will post back to let you know if it worked or not. We definitely quit the FCPx programs, and I think closed the libraries, but I didn’t know you could log out. That might be the issue.

    THANK YOU!

  • Very helpful. Thank you so much!
