I downloaded and ran the identifier on my “verbatim” disc purchased from a well known/reputable DV shop here in Toronto, this is what I get:

Thanks but I’m using top notch Verbatim media which was recommended to me by experts on this forum (more $$ than the cheap stuff).

So, If one does not have a “fancy shmansy” monitor, is there a way to tell Vegas using the color corrector, to color correct by saying

“Hey Vegas, I’ll tell you what’s white on this footage and you can color correct from there” ???

if so, what’s the correct way to do this?

I have the same question as Bob.

Is there a way to “white balance” a monitor (LCD in my case)?

At least we would then know that even if something I’m seeing is not white, it will most likely appear white(-ish) on most tvs or monitors.

That was it! the sfl file wasn’t moved following a relocation of the rendered mpg.

Interesting. I tried the same thing with 2 other mpgs and the scene selection worked perfectly.

The diffs that I can make out are:
1. the vids where the chapters appear are short, 2 to 8 minutes, the one that doens’t work is 45 minutes
2. the vids where the chapters appear have few chapters (3 or less) and the vid that doesn’t work has 8.

I don’t think this should matter but I’m hoping that with more info, someone will be able to shed some light on this.
