I rendered an mpg2 including the markers.

I brought this into DVDA, but when I create a scene selection, no markers/chapters appear.

Any clues as to what I’m doing wrong?

The Markers are actually kept in a file with the same name as the video with a .sfl extension. If you moved the .mpg file and you did not move the .mpg.sfl file that could be the reason. Otherwise, select the option to load a marker file in DVD Architect and point to the .mpg.sfl file and the markers should load.

    more info:

Interesting. I tried the same thing with 2 other mpgs and the scene selection worked perfectly.

The diffs that I can make out are:
    1. the vids where the chapters appear are short, 2 to 8 minutes, the one that doens’t work is 45 minutes
    2. the vids where the chapters appear have few chapters (3 or less) and the vid that doesn’t work has 8.

I don’t think this should matter but I’m hoping that with more info, someone will be able to shed some light on this.

    John, you’re a genius!

That was it! the sfl file wasn’t moved following a relocation of the rendered mpg.

THANKS SO MUCH for taking the time to help!

    HI John,

I’m having a similar problem again. I’m trying to create a scene seletion in DVDA and my scenes are not loading. Looks like the video and its .sfl file lost sync.

if my video is movie.mpg, is the scene selection file supposed to be movie.mpg.sfl or movie.sfl?

I renamed the video file and took care to also rename the sfl but whenever I attempt to create the scene selection, it only creates 2 generic scenes. I don’t think it’s loading the sfl. I opened the sfl with Word and i can “see” the chapter titles so I’m guessing it was created correctly.

    any ideas?

    Thanks

    It’s supposed to be movie.mpg.sfl

Try reloading them manually. In DVD Architect there is a button above the timeline to load the chapters from a file. Double-click on your movie to load it onto the timeline. Then open the .sfl file with the Load Markers button. Like this:

    thanks again,

I had tried this to no avail. I even renamed my .sfl file in various ways, still to no avail. So I took the time, re-rendered (1 hour! yikes!)and this time it worked.

    for the future:

    1. is there a way to recreate the markers file (.sfl) without having to render the entire project?

    2. an .sfl is created when rendering a .ac3 audio file. does it contain all the markers of the project? (in my case, the ac3 generated sfl filesize was smaller than the mpg2 generated sfl file)

Yes, you can do it with a script. There should be a free one floating about somewhere. VASST Ultimate S Pro also has this capability. It will not only create the .sfl file after the fact but it can automate all of your rendering to MPEG2 and AC3.
