Thanks John! I’m learning so much here “on the Cow”. Thanks to people like you, Mike and all the others always willing to share their wealth of knowledge.

    1. So, If get this right, to have my audio encoded once, for best quality I should go straight to AC3 if I’m to output my video to DVD?

    2. I don’t see a setting for AC3 audio in the render for the NTSC template. so if I hear you correctly, this is normal and I must do a 2-pass and choose the AC3 from the list AFTER I render the mpg2? Do I tell the mpg2 render not to include audio then? if so, how?

    3. Is an AC3 audio much larger in size than that of what’s encoded in an mpg2? Reason I ask is that i’ve had to compress this 140 minute training video like mad trying to fit it on one DVD.

    Thanks Mike!

I didn’t think of turning on auto-ripple, not thinking it would have an effect.

This is good to know, I’ll definitely use this trick again and save lots of time!

    thanks again, MIke,

Thanks for this great tip Mike!

It came in handy today. I was combining 2 projects and was able to move the markers thanks to this. (one project was brought in starting at the end of the first project)

One small inconvenience I had is that I had to slide the markers of the “imported” project since the were brought into the timeline relative to the begin of the new project, not relative to the beginning of the project being imported.

Could I have done this another way?

    Thanks Mike,

I hadn’t thought of doing a short segment at that rate.

    Thanks!

Hi Mike, Trying to put 135 minutes of video on a DVD. bit calculator says I should use a cbr of 4328 or vbr of avg 4328, max 7568. it says the quality would be “good” at 44% —– from your experience, should I go for this setting? will quality be acceptable? I’m wondering if I’ll have to put it on 2 DVDs instead.——-(I still don’t know why I can’t create a linefeed when I post…argggghhh!) —-Gilles

Thanks Scott, I’ll give Izotope a look.

What about any native ways to “master”?

    figured it out.

there’s a handy dandy “pre/post” toggle on the effects page.

    Wouldn’t you know it!
