My concern is in the workflow of the two together. I’ve used them together before but it was a real challenge when the client wanted to make a slight change in timing or in the actual effect/text generated in AE. Every time, I had to make the change an AE, render that (remembering the render settings previously used) and then re-render the vegas project.
So say I have a project and want to simply make a cut/segment shorter, and that segment has a layer of an AE generated text above which also needs to be re-synced, this becomes a very labourious/time-consuming process.
Perhaps I’m not using them together using the best method.
Another example: say you want to make an animated intro in AE which will be layered on top of your vegas project at the beginning. and say you vegas project start is looking great with cuts synced to the music, etc. How do you work in an AE overlay which will match the music? I can think of a few ways but none seem efficient, especially if the client may request a few seconds to be cut for instance. then all needs to be resynced, recreated.
What’s the correct workflow?

I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one with these issues.As I have to use AE more frequently to add a pro quality to my titles/graphics I will look into switching to Adobe Premier. AE and Premier work very seamlessly together from my speaking with users. It wouldn’t hurt to try it out. Seems to have a strong following too.
It’s not the software that makes a great video. The software is a tool, but… the tool must be stable. If it integrates well with other tools, all the better.

The logo was created in a photoshop file which is 1920×1080 to match the mp4 intended render. it’s to scale on a 1920×1080 canvas. So I would’nt have to crop in the project.

Good idea on the rw dvds Bob. I hadn’t thought of this obvious method for testing. I didn’t think DVD players (on tvs) could read them.
will give this a whirl.

Even with alignment issues Steve (lower third text)? I don’t want to waste time and DVDs if I don’t have to 🙁Gilles

Hi Mike!
The file is a Still: 1280x720x32, PNG.
I did what you suggested and it still is not of great quality.And the lower third text still drops lower than when viewed in preview before the render.
Remeber that my destination for this render is DVD. I also have to deliver a 720 HD mp4. The mp4s have no issues at all.

Thanks Steve,
I tried this but did not seem to make a difference. I did change the aspect ration of the media to 1.2121 (NTSC DV Widescreen). This seemed to have helped. It’s still not perfect though and the thin “blue tail” of the graphic is still not as “full” as it should be.Any other ideas?
Another concern is that although an mp4 render will have the person’s name (lower third} centered in the oval orange graphic, in the mpg render, it is now a bit lower and the tail of the “y” for instance is off out of the oval (lower).
This “what-I-see-is-not-what-i-get” is driving me crazy!
any ideas?

Hi John,
I rendered with the DVD template. When I preview the resulting mpg video in Media player the bottom section of the video shows “artifacts”… like horizontal sync problems when there is movement like a pan in the original footage.What’s going on? will this appear in the dVD as well?
