    Thanks Floh,
The 7toX works fine for clips without audio. Good thing that the first program I exported accidentally has no audio or else it wont work at first try. I tried a regular program with audio and wont work at all except if you unsync the entire program. But nothing make any sense anyway. FCX has no export function.

I have seen those effects a lot but have not tried them yet. Can you just overlay those effects in one of the layers of Media 100 with alpha channel?

I would love that idea too. Is that possible with Media100? Well, there is no background rendering with media100 anyway. But depending on the camera, sometimes importing takes much longer time than digitizing.

You need to get the quicktime component to be able to import the files or youll have all blank green clips in the bin. That I believe is part of Final Cut quictime stuff but also can be installed free from apple website. Or, you can capture the clips by using your HD-SDI out from the camera.

August 10, 2012 at 3:22 am in reply to: Request for M100 tutorials

[Marcus Warren] “I have been asking for Media 100 tutorials for a while and I am not sure why Boris FX continues to ignore adding on-going training for Media 100 to the Media 100 website. We can’t even get Boris RED training using the Media 100 interface, but we can get RED and BCC training on a regular basis featuring the other NLEs you support. I understand that you make more money supporting the other NLEs, but can’t we get *something*?

And even though M100 is your product, it lags behind other NLEs as far as the capability your own products provide. Why does M100 have to be the last major NLE to get the new filters available in BCC 8?

Guys, your actions (or lack thereof) really shake confidence in the product, and quite frankly, it’s very frustrating. With Adobe’s Creative Cloud now offering up to 26 Adobe product installations for just $50 a month(!), and the $299 Final Cut Pro X gaining wider acceptance and support, Boris really needs to step it up with M100 (particularly in regards to marketing buzz and user support).

One topic that I would like to see in a tutorial is a further explanation of the Composite Clips feature. What all can be accomplished with this capability? I have a feeling that there are a lot of less well-known tricks that we can benefit from when using Composite Clips.

Another tutorial would be centered around the ability to edit very quickly in M100. Take a project and show all of the short-cuts, etc. that speed up the work flow. You guys use to say that the M100 interface was “blazing fast”. Show us.”

I agree with you 1000%. I just got FCPX 3 days ago as a trial. I purchased it last night and everything you need is right in front of you even tweaking the effects. Got Final Cut Studio and never bothered using it, stick with media100 but since final cut x is new, why not give it a try. Boris support other NLE so we must do the same thing.

[T. Payton] “What is the codec, frame rate, etc. I assume you have the latest drivers from AJA?”

Codec proRes, frame rate from canon dslr and latest drivers from AJA. Anything I’m missing? I tried waiting and probably theres some background rendering going on but nothing. Any advice?

[Stephen Fuchs] “Do your clips have audio? I noticed on my system that I have to have audio under the footage (whether it is from the actual clip or added music) to play smoothly. This seems to be a rare bug, independent of system configuration. We have a few Mac Pro FCP X systems with all the same configurations and this only happens on one.”

All clips have audio and its playing well, Under system prefs, I selected kona as audio out. If there is a bug, are there any fix at this time? Thanks

[Claude Lyneis] “Playback is all about the video card in your Mac. Once I got a new iMac the playback smoothed out”
It looks smooth on the computer screen but the main preview goes out to AJA Kona SDI box and through another Kona mini converter from SDI to HDMI. I work on an Xserve dual 2.93 nehalem machine

Mine works with Kona 3 with version 3.1.1, M100/2.1.1 and Mac OS 10.7.4
It will also work with Matrox with MAX with version 2.5
Check earlier post about latest Media 100 upgrade 2.1.1. Cheers

July 12, 2012 at 2:39 pm in reply to: Computer displays with video inputs?

    Hi Robert,
I still have some setup that is able to drive 4 large screen with HDMI inputs from the legacy Media 100 and source video coming from HD camcorders and DSLRs. For some reason, it might not be cost effective anymore because converters are as expensive as getting a Matrox box then. Also if your Media100 has the E6000 board for SDI. You can still use all your existing SVideo, Composite and Component outs same time.
Heres my setup: from camcorder or dslr with HDMI out to a Decklink HDMI to SDI converter then from Media 100 SDI out to DAC-8 HD/SD-SDI to HDMI Converter. From here output can be to any HDMI monitor. Hope this work for you.
If you are upgrading to HD Suite, thunderbolt options are great. I have tried them with the latest 2.1.1 w/ OS 10.7.x but you wont be able to use the latest drivers for Matrox to output FinalCutX directlly to HDMI.
    Gerry
