    Dear David,

I want to apologize for not getting back to you sooner. The fact is that my Hard Drive completely fried on me, as a result I lost all the work that was is progress. I am busy now re-digitizing everything so I can start the process again. Let me see when I get to the part of the underexposed background and I might need your pick your brain again.

    Thank again for your help,

    Gerard

Of course, the tools are in the “Toolbox”. How stupid of me.
Thanks Rafael, I will look into that “box” …

The over-driving luminance idea sounds accurate. Where do I find he waveform/vectorscopes?
Also, I don’t know where to get the Broadcast Safe filter so I can make the test; please, bear with my ignorance…

    David,
    Here are some answers:
    1) I am using a Mac-Pro Lap-Top only.
Just so you know I already formatted the clip into a quick time file (thinking the flickering would go away, since FCP does a lot of things automatically on it’s own) and I also burnt a DVD in order to judge the final product.

    2) I shot on Mini-DV Standard Definition at 29.97 FPS

    3) I am using a LACIE 250 GB external Hard Drive

To explain the “flickering” problem better, it looks like there’s WIND BLOWING through a curtain backlit, from an over-exposed window in the background and in a flower, also backlit and over-exposed, attached to a girl’s hair in the foreground. The background was under-exposed, that is the reason why I use the 3way corrector to balance the exposure with the previous shots.

    I hope this will help.

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for your input. Even though I don’t quite understand how that works yet, what you say makes sense. However, since I don’t know yet what I am doing I may have to start from scratch and re-do the entire correction by paying attention to the key-frames. In the meantime I will give to David the information that he needs to see if he finds a solution.

    Thanks again…

Humm, very interesting David, since after rendering the problem still exists… Any more thoughts for my future?

    Hello David,

Thank you for your prompt reply. After reading your message I checked the window that you mentioned and in fact the most important part, which you said was “Full”, was not checked. So I will re-render and let you know the result.

Thanks a lot for you help,

    Gerard

    Hello Rafael,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I don’t quite understand what you mean by too “closed”. That would be great if you could explain. Obviously the 3way Color Corrector is completely new to me so I also could have had too many Key-frames… I must be missing something.

    Thanks for wanting to help,

    Gerard
