  • Thanks everyone for all the help. I got a workable h.264 file out of FCP. In my confusion and rush, I wasn’t thinking. My software works with QT files, but works fine with Mpeg4 also. I talked with a nice guy from the Neverlands that sells the QTCHANGE software. (thanks Michael) and he explained that for his software to work with Mpeg4 it had to be wrapped in QT wrapper. Also said his software would do all qt files, so if I would have made a H.264 downloaded his demo, I would have been done in no time. I still will probably buy the software, seemed like a nice tool to have. Thanks also Jonathan for giving me a better understanding of the DSLR format. So problem solved and another learning experience. Thanks again.

  • Thanks, I’ll try the demo. I was at the site and I understood that it only worked on the actual camera
files, I came away thinking that it wouldn’t do quicktime like mpeg4. Perhaps I am mistaken. It’s worth a try and thanks so much for your response. I sent the editor links on how he could fix it, but his boss just told me he had done all he’s able, so I’ll have to see what I can do. I tried going to hdd and did get tc, but it is not working correctly. I may try going to DVCPRO50 16:9, so I can run component to it and perhaps I could trick it by feed timecode from one of my beta’s into the DVCPRO, I worked with non time coded stuff way back when you’d get a vhs once in a while and never had trouble going to tape. But I believe my Media 100 back then had a tc generator built in. I’ll give the software a try first, thanks again.

Thanks Floh, you are a blessing! I agree and have looked into carbon copy. The new ver. want’s 10.4. I could go with the older verison. But, I think your right, by the time I bought/found 10.4 and bought Red it would be another $600 and no doubt wouldn’t preform well at all on my old system. I better leave well enough alone and go with the new system.

    Thanks,
