I don’t know if you have the same in FCP 6 but in FCP 7 you can export marker as text files (File Menu > Export > Marker List as Text).
It can then be also imported in Excel.

For documentaries I use Movielogger to manage markers…quite a great tool even if it is a bit expensive….

I’m forcing myself to learn FCP X too…
and yesterday I discovered you can insert empty space in the Timeline, called “gap clip” or “placeholder clip”. I still have not tried myself but it could help you.
Here is the link to FCP X help:

  • Have you changed sequence settings after having imported mp4 and jpeg into the timeline?.
Moreover jpeg and mp4 format are not good format for editing in FCP7.

I think it is because of the .avi codec is not an editing one for fcp. You should render the file from After effect in .mov or .dv instead.

On DVD you will get only SD quality.
To get HD you need to burn on blu-ray, which is possible from FCP7 and if you get a blu-ray recordable drive.
I know that with the Toast 10 Titanium Pro burning software, you can create HD on DVD which will be readable by a Blu-ray player but not dvd player, and you cannot burn more than 1 hour of HD video on one disc.

Using stroke effect works also very well for simple animation et very easy to use.

November 29, 2010 at 1:52 am in reply to: Workflow AE & FCP HD 1920×1280

Well I have got the same problem…
In FCP my timeline s set to prores 422 1920*1080 25fps square pixel and interlacing off.

In AE my composition is set to hdtv 1920×1080,25fps, square pixel. I render with field render off and with Animation codec.

When I import animation quicktime movie in FCP, FCP interprets it as interlaced footage with upper field…

I can’t understantd why. It’s like that for AE HDTV 1080 25 is always interlaced…

The problem does not appear if my AE composition is set to 1050×576.

    Can anyone explain this please?
    thanks

The post house must have read the rate in MBYTES/S and not in Mbits/s, since 14mbyte/s is about the same than 100 mbits/s.
