I had this problem before with PP 5 on Mac and couldn’t fix it. I used FCP for importing.

Now I’m using Premiere CC and could capture fine until I tried while connected to my Thunderbolt display (with external hard drives, etc. hooked up to the display) . I got Unknown Recorder Error. Unplugged the Thunderbolt display and things are fine.

Not exactly your problem, but I thought I should share…

I found turning on Use Maximum Render Quality helped with time remapping. Through it created other problems with certain effects: circle matte with partial opacity for example.

I’m having a similar problem and wanted to try your solution. I’m using Premiere 5.5 on a Mac and I don’t have Quicktime Animation as an uncompressed output option.

Can I get that or is there another option?

btw, I was just able to export a H.264 720p version from AME. But that 1080p has died on me about a dozen times. After restarts, etc.

I got an LG Blu-Ray burner (BP40) and want to use it with Encore 5.5 on my MBP. But the drive doesn’t show up on the desktop. Am I overlooking something?

One other opinion I’ve found:

Here it is suggested that if you are targeting a projector (beamer) or computer screen, progressive is the way to go. That sounds about right for me.

While interlaced seems slightly sharper, the risk of comb-toothing on a device that does not support on-the-fly de-interlacing seems too great. (I.e. I’ve seen some publicly projected videos that suffered tremendously from this.)

My PS3 and 1080p TV do a great job of interpreting interlaced MPG2 files. So does my Mac when playing a DVD (although DVD has substantially lower quality). Ironically, QuickTime Player on my Mac (MBP/Lion) plays interlaced MPG2 files with no interpretation and looks lousy.

Hopefully these notes may help the next person.

Hmm. May have solved my own problem…

The clips that didn’t work had other effects applied to them: either Mercalli, Speed change, or Horizontal flip. Not sure why that last one would cause a time shift, but removing it allowed my to use the Calculate Channels effect.

I had the impression some festivals were unhappy with the quality of DVD/Bluray for public presentations. And the video has one section with a flame in a fireplace that falls to pieces when interlaced and viewed on a computer.

I’m just worried about my precious baby! 🙂
