Thanks for getting back to me, Joseph, but unfortunately that post doesn’t address my problem. The 6-channel audio files aren’t 5.1 files. They are standard six-channel WAV files where boom is on 1, mix is on 5 and 6 and 2-4 are various wireless lav mics.
The problem is that when I drag them into a track all 6 channels play down. Obviously this doesn’t work. I want to be able to have (let’s say) only ch. 1 (boom) play.
As I said, I know I can extract mono files in the project window, but that creates 6 times the number of files in the project window. I’m hoping there is a more elegant way to do it.
In Soundtrack Pro, for instance, if you hold option when you drag them into a track, the 6-channels will come in as mono on six different tracks. I can select the one I want. And if I want to change it later, I just right click on it and switch the channel that is playing back.
